I have a friend that's an alcoholic but he has been water baptized so his church says he is saved and that's where grace comes in

Water baptism does not save. Faith in Yeshua saves. However.... Water baptism is good too. I personally was baptised in the Jordan river. I'll neva forget it.

That must of been a thrill to be baptized in the Jordan thanks for your input so now how do I tell my friend he is falling off a cliff when he think he is okay?
Baptism saves, Mk 16:16; Acts 2:28; 1 Pet 3:21, but one who is living in sin cannot be baptized and continue to live in sin and expect to be saved. Repentance has to take place before one is baptized.
Yes, it does according to 2Peter. Peter said that baptism now saves, however, it is not a ritual of magic without intention. You must seek God and He will find you.

Think of it like this. Anyone could decide it would be fun to go through being water baptized, however your church does it. It is simply having water put on you, means nothing.
But if someone wanted to have the Holy Spirit from God because the knew and gave themselves to Him. that very same water, combined with prayer, would be powerful. You could choose to ignore that power and not make use of it in your life, but it would always be available to you.
That is different from being saved. That is accepting Jesus as our Savior. Jesus is our Savior when He cleanses us of all our sins when we go to Him in repentance. We can not even know of all our sin so as to repent of everything, we can only say we put on Christ and do our best to follow Him, and ask for forgiveness for all.
With alcoholism, it is hard to know. It is a terrible disease that involves the mind. I know of one man who was absolutely cured of it one Sunday, I asked him to tell me about it. He said that when he found out who Christ was and what He had done for him one Sunday morning, he gave over his entire life to him. It not only involved the alcohol, but many things in his life, even his marriage.

Are they trying to help him? Are they telling him it is a sin? Are they chastening him and using discipline acccording to the word of God.
or are they just ignoring his sin and say it does not matter.
I know many alcoholics who are saved. Once an alcoholic always an alcoholic.

You show him in the word where it is a sin, If he does not listen, You take a witness. If that does not work. You pray the church confronts him (if they refuse, they are not a church of God and you need to find a different church)

It's a symbol. An expected symbol, but it's faith in the finished work of Christ that saves.

Yes, And anyone who is saved by faith and the baptism of the spirit shoudl obey Gods first command, and be water baptized.
Baptism is a picture and public testimony of your acceptance and belief into the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus by faith for total salvation. Salvation is a gift that requires nothing but faith into the completed works Of Jesus Christ and his Faith.

2. Buried with Christ
3. Resurrected in Jesus

Seems like many think they can work their way to the Kingdom of God.....trying to come by some other "DOOR" than that which has been given<---Jesus and His faith!
In this Dispensation, water baptism is not connected with our salvation.
As a matter of fact, water baptism does not save anyone today.
For a person to be saved; he must place his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord saves him.
Water baptism was only connected with salvation during the preaching of the Gospel of the Kingdom. That was during the ministry of John the Baptist. Also, in the time of Jacob's trouble, water baptism will also be necessary, since in the time of Jacob's trouble, the Gospel of the Kingdom will be preached once again (see Matt. 24:14).

Lets have the greatest pool party the world has ever seen! It will be a revival like no other, so many salvations will happen by just getting wet! As was the joke in another thread, "Get wet, be set[for eternity]."
I mean, if being baptized was the means to salvation, lets stop preaching and start building swimming pools. Forget churches, lets make water parks!

One must first believe in order to be baptized, but the baptism is the outward expression of what has already taken place on the inside. Yes, do it once saved, but not before as you'll just be getting wet. Key point, you're saved before you're baptized, but baptism does follow salvation as a means of obedience.

Today, we do not preach the Gospel of the Kingdom. But rather, we preach the Gospel of the Grace of God.
