Do you believe in the spiritual realm?

For example, do you believe that you have a spirit?

Basically, scripture teaches that people are made up of three parts:

Spirit, soul, and body.

Your spirit would be the real you living inside of your body.

Your soul would basically be things like your mind, emotions, intellect, etc.

Any your body is self-explanatory.

I mean I think maybe there could be something more, but I doubt anyone knows about that more than anyone else I suppose. Not like we know how consciousness happens etc

Up until a few years ago, I actually spent 11 straight years on a physics forum. Believe me, I'm NOT a physicist, but I stayed there because they had a Creation vs. Evolution section that I participated in regularly. I'm mentioning this because the topic of "Where does consciousness come from?" came up from time to time there. Some sought to equate it simply with the brain, but, of course, the Bible teaches that God breathed into man the breath of life and man became a living soul.

As far as whether or not we can know more is concerned, the Bible teaches that a man, woman, or child can actually know their Creator.

In fact, this is how Jesus Christ described eternal life:

"And this is life eternal, that they might know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. " (John 17:3)

The Greek word here which was translated into English as "know" doesn't just mean some sort of head knowledge.

Instead, it's more related to a man knowing his wife...as in the two coming together intimately.

Anyhow, the Bible does describe for us how we can come to know God intimately.

Not in some sort of sexual manner, but in the sense that the two become one.

It's basically a spiritual union where the Spirit of God comes to dwell within an individual.

Still doesnt make sense to me, just seems like I cant really get my head around the idea of faith in general, like it could be any god someone chooses to believe in

I hear you, but I don't personally believe that the type of faith which the Bible actually talks about is some sort of "blind faith" or just wishful thinking.

To my understanding, it's more of a confidence in someone you actually know, and, again, that knowing isn't just some sort of head knowledge.

I mean, if God truly exists, and if he truly came to dwell within you, don't you think that you would "know" it?

I hope that you see the difference between the two types of "faith" and "knowledge".

Well I think its subjective really, depends on the person, morality system, etc, all that stuff.

Please allow me to make a suggestion to you in relation to God and the Bible.

I see that you live in Michigan.

I live in Pennsylvania, but I've actually been to Michigan a few times.

For 16 years, I had contracts with forty different VA hospitals in this nation, and I travelled to them all frequently as a transient vendor (a fancy way to say "travelling salesman") who sold mostly military-related merchandise to our nation's Veterans. Three of those forty VA hospitals that I visited were in Michigan (Detroit, Battle Creek, and Ann Arbor).

I had no clue initially how to get to any of these sites in Michigan, but I did use "Google Maps" back in those days.

It wasn't until I followed those maps that I learned whether or not they could be trusted.

In other words, whether or not they accurately got me to the promised location.

The Bible is pretty much the same.

It's basically a roadmap which claims to tell us how to get reconciled back unto God.

The only way that we can know if it is a true roadmap or not is to follow the directions that it gives us to get reconciled back unto God through Christ.

It is only after following those directions that we can know for sure whether or not the Bible can be trusted as a reliable source and whether or not the Christian God is real.

Does this make sense to you?

I mean, I've done a bit of reading of the bible, and god just kinda seems, mean and vindictive.
