Yeah, right. If you don't want to bother to read your PM's you wouldn't read anything more that I would post here either. No sweat, 90% of the nation also is insistent on believing "repent" means to feel bad and be nice.
I agree with what you've said and I think it goes along with what Jesus said in Matthew 3:15.
But Jesus answering said to him, “Permit it at this time; for in this way it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he permitted Him.

Well I will confess, Willie. I figured after your snide remarks to Stunned you were having a bad day. So I kind of put you on ignore since then. I still click and read your post, but it reminds me to pray before posting a response.
Since you have never pm me before, didn't really expect you to send me anything. So I apologize for not having read your 10 page thesis.
However a summary would be great. A simple definition of repentance even better.

Nah..... I see you are into the Twitter version of Bible Study, so maybe someone else can help you out with 140 characters or less.
I haven't read the posts here (I'm still reading) that might have given a definition of repentance, but I can say that in all the churches I've been a part of, I've never heard one pastor give that definition.
Here's what most of them have said in my own words. There is a godly repentance and their is a carnal worldly repentance.
The godly repentance means you've been walking your life in one way, the way of the world to please the flesh and when you repent, you go 180 degrees in the other direction and begin walking in newness of life, no longer to please the flesh, but to please your Lord and Savior.
When I repented of my sins I grieved, I cried, I wept. Does everyone? I don't know, but I would think that through the act of repentance for the forgiveness of sins, there's something supernatural going on inside the person. Before you can repent, God is already at work in your heart convicting you of your sins. At some point in the process of repentance, born again, baptism, it seems there would be some grieving of sin.
The process that's begun in the new heart through repentance will make you righteous and holy and that process continues in the believer (sanctification) throughout his life.
The fruit of the Spirit includes goodness, kindness and love. So that does sound pretty nice to me.

Repent as I was taught means to turn away from. Stop and turn from, give it no more thought or muse.
Sadly, that is what almost all of us were taught. I believed it for about a half a century.... until I started actually reading some of the things I was told to believe, and saw that they just didn't fit.

I agree...I too was taught the same thing....we have replaced repentance for the fruit of repentance that comes after we have repented correctly and thus really watered it down and thus as usual it waters down the gospel of the grace of Christ too.
To repent is so simple, the simplest person in the world knows how to say sorry and
apologise for something. We are taught this from an early age and it is part of life
when we upset someone or they upset us.
Repentance is about the relationship between us and the Father and our debt towards
Him. If it becomes only the 14 page analysis defines truth and spiritual reality how does
this help those who cannot read or can only grasp simple concepts?
I would also point to Eze 18:21-26 which lays out repentance very well and Gods attitude
towards people. It is not just a few words, a polite commitment and then nothing.
But those who hold a bitter taste of their own hypocracy in their mouth and want to condemn
everyone else for living in this and working their way to heaven, need to get healed of their
bitterness and sense of betrayal, which they themselves created and fell into.

This is an interesting suggestion. This seems to be saying trying to walk righteously without repenting
is wrong. Yes. That is what the pharisees did, they had not dealt with the heart and purified it, so they
were defiled, no matter how hard they tried to be righteous.
Accepting the cross and knowing our brokenness is the first step, without which nothing else makes
sense. But brokenness only works on an open heart that can be hurt, changed, healed and touched.
Without exception, the most ardent champions of Christ has done everything, we just rest, show all
the signs of a closed off emotion, a none response to basic hurts and problems in life. Unless the
word speaks at a fundamental level, to issues that are foundational to who we are, it is just a nice
theory.
For me Christ means I am a man undone, nothing in me works or makes sense, without Him, life is not
life. To become like a child, is to wipe the slate clean, and accept I have to learn everything again.
Innocense is the simplest road to walk, and the most assured. What people think of as status is
often just worry about maintenance, a sense of being undeserved and then defending everything
against all the others who want it instead. In Christ we are loved by the King, we need nothing
else. That is repentance and following.

Took you off ignore on the small chance you might actually add to the conversation or at the very least resend your 10 pages of enlightenment.
However I am sadly wrong.
Instead I get inaccurate insults. If I was a different person, those arrows might actually stick. I don't do a "Twitter" version of a Bible study.
Despite how I may appear to you, with my lack of lofty terms and attitudes, I do actually read the articles posted and sometimes even the books recommended by people I speak with.
I like to keep my post simple because I believe Jesus kept it simple that even a small child could understand His message.
The title of the thread is "don't choke the Baby!" it talks about the basics in basic language.
Yet all you can do is insult anyone who doesn't agree with your definition of repent.
As far as I can see only Grace seems to meet your approval in that regard.
Grace if you would give me the courtesy of correction, I will attempt to summarize what I understand your stance is:
Repentance is when a person's mind is changed from the dead works of false religious teachings that do not save to the gospel of Jesus Christ remission of sins upon the cross.
You stated before that baptism is the fruit of repentance.
Is that a correct summary of your beliefs?

It's been three days and i just realized that we haven't even prayed in this thread. If we were meeting face to face, we would have hugged one another and said a prayer by now.
So we will take a break to pray. If you don't care to, then skip this post. None of us will know the difference, unless you decide to lash out and attack.
Dear Heavenly Father: we come before you with broken hearts. we know in our minds You are our great physician and can heal our cuts and bruises. We don't know where everyone else is in their journey to you, but we do know that this world wounds us. Help us to remember that you take your sheep to green pasture to rest and heal. Lord thank you for the times in our lives when you force us to stand still and spend time with You. Fill us with Your love Lord so that it will overflow from our hearts into the lives of those around us. God we give a special thanks for the birth of Stunned and the many years you have walked with her. We ask for your protection as we discuss the elementary principles of Your salvation plan. Help us lay down our pride and what we think we know, to listen and see with renewed eyes your Holy Words found in scriptures. Let us not be like spoiled Pharisees assuming we already know what those scriptures say. Instead let us with humble hearts read each verse, each chapter as a small child who has never heard the story before. Help us keep the wonder of discovery of Your truths and grace and mercy fresh in our hearts. Put our hearts and minds in your refining fire so that all that is not from you get a burnt up like hay and stubble. Lord may your presence engulf all, like a warm hug on a cold winter's day. I've never heard anyone pray for me and include me in their prayer...that was a blessing, sister. To know that while I pray for you guys, you are praying for me and all of us...if I had thought about it, I would have known that, of course, I'm not the only one praying. It never occurred to me to think about it. But when I see my Lord in others it isn't going to be without their having prayed and spent time with Him, that's for sure.
Even if you hadn't mentioned me specifically to our Lord, that is the best, most forcefully targeted prayer I have ever heard. I think you DID just lay your hands on us, in spirit...yes, you did...So He finally showed me the spirit of the laying on of hands.

But then, along comes Jennie, who can attest to that definition not being complete, because I didn't even know any religious teachings when I met Him. My repentance was, as succinctly as I can put it, just sorrow over having not known He existed. It's all I was horrified by, that I'd said He didn't exist and that I hadn't known. I repented not even knowing it was the term for what I was doing.
This is interesting, EG.
I experienced something physical when I received the Holy Spirit, where it felt like waves of water whooshing over me. I think He allows this comfort to some who are so weak that they might turn back.
But sometime later, I remember asking someone on a forum if they knew anything about something odd I had just experienced. I told them about this feeling of waves and goosebumps and that it was how I sensed His Presence. But that something different had happened to me recently where I felt the waves only on my head and shoulders, almost feeling like that thing we used to do when we were kids where you crack an imaginary egg over someones head and then gently slide your fingers over the crown of their head to simulate what the contents of the egg would feel like running down over your hair.
They thought I was crazy. I haven't thought so much about it since, but it was distinctly different, as if something was poured gently on my head rather than waves lapping over and in me. The oil of gladness being poured on me, or what you term filling of the Spirit...
If I've felt it again, I'm not aware that I have. It usually starts (these waves washing), around my chest area and then spreads out. I think this is because it comes from within my heart, a fountain of living waters bubbling up inside me.
He brought me through many periods of time where I no longer felt this (sensed Him to my awareness), and I had to learn to go solely by faith when He removed it. I call them fasts in spirit and truth, these periods of time where I can't sense His Presence.
And after quite a few of these fasts, He doesn't come to my senses in this way very often any more. Mostly only when He seems to want me to pay attention or listen intently to something. I think it's something He does with those who are weaker...after I first met Him, He always came to me in this way though.
