To those outside the law I became as one outside the law (not being outside the law of God but under the law of Christ) that I might win those outside the law.

We are under law, the law of Christ not the law of Moses.
We have ceremonies, baptism, fellowship meetings, breaking of bread, confession of
sins, laying on of hands, marriage, dedications, remembering our dead to the Lord.
Some hate institutions because of the effect in their hearts. I recognise this hatred
because it has also touched my heart at times, until I realised it was my expectations
of acceptance of my enthusiasm in Christ that others did not have, that hurt.
Then I remember my King, the King of forgiveness, and love, working with people where
they are, not where we would hope they were. So I just praise the Lord, and bring praise
among His people. And boy do we need forgiveness and healing, these threads demonstrate
the deep scars and disappointments that have wounded us, and we cannot see our King
because of them. And we do wound each other sometimes without knowing why, but
God is so gracious, and we are learning, in His love, Amen, glory to Him we have come
this far, Hallelujah.

Well as the risk of drawing down the wrath or scorn of Willie, I suggest we continue the conversation about baptism.
Correct me if I am wrong:
Do we all agree that the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is the only baptism that truly saves and makes people children of God?
This only happens through the will of God. It's can't be bought with money or the performance of good works, but like faith is a gift from God to us.
Would you like to discuss the other types of baptism mentioned in scriptures, even though they don't save a person? Or move forward to resurrection of the dead?

Amen sister. To meet the King should give us goose bumps.
When my spirit rises in praise to Him, I feel this too.
I have to say though, spiritual turmoil often clouds this clarity.
We can get used to being in such a privileged place, but it still
is fantastic. I think we need to remind each other how much He
has done and to spend time letting our hearts and spirits dwell
in praise in worship. It changes so much in life, how we breath
and walk, it is our life blood.

John 1:29-34
29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God,who takes away the sin of the world! 30 This is the one I meant when I said, ‘A man who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.’ 31 I myself did not know him, but the reason I came baptizing with water was that he might be revealed to Israel.”
32 Then John gave this testimony: “I saw the Spirit come down from heaven as a dove and remain on him. 33 And I myself did not know him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water told me, ‘The man on whom you see the Spirit come down and remain is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’ 34 I have seen and I testify that this is God’s Chosen One.”
John's the evangelist's testimony of John the Baptist
does not explicitly mention the baptism of Jesus.
Matthew chapter 3
11 “I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. 12 His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor, gathering his wheat into the barn and burning up the chaff with unquenchable fire.
13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John. 14 But John tried to deter him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?”
15 Jesus replied, “Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness.” Then John consented.
16 As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. 17 And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”
Mark chapter 1

Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River. 6 John wore clothing made of camelʼs hair, with a leather belt around his waist, and he ate locusts and wild honey. 7 And this was his message: “After me comes the one more powerful than I, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie. 8 I baptize you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”

Luke chapter 3
21 When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too. And as he was praying, heaven was opened
22 and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.”
We also know from Luke's gospel that John the baptist
recognized Jesus while both were still in the womb.
I reread these verses and a thought occurred to me that the Baptism of repentance is a baptism of death.
Death to our sins. Death on the cross. Our eventual death of these earthly tents.
Our next topic is ressurection of the dead, which happens to our spirit with the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. Ressurection of our bodies will occur, upon Christ 2nd coming at the destruction of this earth and the creation of the NEW HEAVEN AND EARTH.
Jesus told His disciples that they will be baptized into the Baptism He was about to undergo...which was death upon the cross. If we look at it in context, it is a promise that all flesh will die. However we should not be afraid for Christ raises the dead back to life and life more abundantly.
Are we back again to telling men they haven't repented correctly?
Nope....I was talking with Willie and telling that I was brought up in my church to believe like he said.
When I looked at scripture - especially in Acts 10 and Acts 13 when the gospel was preached by Peter and Paul - word-for-word - it changed my whole view and of course there is the actual meaning of the Greek word too. "change the mind" - metanoia.
To me it is clear that there is repentance and there are fruits of having already repented. When we try to "dictate" the fruit of repentance before the actual true repentance has taken place - we have replaced the gospel with a religion.
I did experience a death of sorts. That first death I experienced was to the world. I tried to talk about it to a man. I said there was no joy for me in the world and that nothing in it brought me any happiness any more. But he got alarmed and thought I was in danger of committing suicide. He didn't note that I was very happy...
And I couldn't talk with the women I knew any more. About a new vacuum cleaner that was wonderful, about a new car or a great sale they found. I tried to act engaged, but inside I was shrieking get me out of here!
I guess that is a death to sin though, because anything not of faith is sin...
After this death to the world, which just happened with absolutely no work on my part, I entered into beginning to die to my flesh.
He took care of those two enemies - the world, the flesh. He even took care of them in that order.
Our enemies: the world, the flesh and the devil...

Yes, to me repentance is to change your mind from relying on the way we used to think which could include false religious teachings or for the Gentile - it just means them living their own life in their own strength and ways - and to now rely on what Christ has done for us.
When I said that baptism is a fruit of repentance I was referring to the Pharisees being told by John to show that "they have repented" and be baptized in water as it would show that they have sin and need a Savior.
Is that clear? Sometimes when we write things out - they can be mis-interpreted or mis-represented. Some would say - this means that you want to continue sinning which is complete nonsense.
So, there are fruits of "having already repented" but true repentance to believe in Christ and what He has done comes first.

I do have to say that the past five years, or so, during which I have been studying to hear Jesus, instead of teachers and preachers, has certainly opened up my eyes to what the expression, "The Traditions of Men" actually means.

It says, the next day, He saw Jesus comming. and as he saw him, he said behold the lamb of god.

The above statement in bold, large case, reminds me of someone shouting.
There is no content here, just a general relationship statement without context
and with condemnation, or an attempt at it.
I did grasp this world view months back, but it is an emotional priority one, where
Christ is everything and we are nothing, empty chumps, burnt out, but redeemed.
Gnostic outlook is the closest in essence, with the superiority and blank dismissal
is their hall mark. It is interesting those who claim others are so condemning, always
put condemnation in their contributions.
The ethic used is everything is evil that adds anything to Christ, so trace anything
back to self, and that is sin. This creates a new morality, which is not scriptural,
but is a new book of law. Being critical is also a sin, and fear is a sin, lack of trust
is a sin.
So obviously they have no book of law to easily point to, because if it was written
it would obviously not be from the Lord. Odd that God would deliver law and guidance
but leave out this new moral guidance which is now the true revealed truth!!!
I believe she mentioned me outright only because it broke her heart that I'd never heard anyone pray for me, because she has a heart very tender from it's circumcision. And it was a blessing. She wanted to bless me, and she did. Wonderfully. But she laid hands on everyone in here.
I agree...religious traditions can be the strongest most deceiving strongholds in our minds because we have been taught them from the beginning of our walk with the Lord by well-meaning people.
When we hear something that is different from our church teachings - we can get offended.
We can think that we are "defending the faith" but in reality we could be just "defending our church traditions and teachings" which may or may not be accurate.

Thats a poor defenition. Sadly, I feel the much of the churhc has lost the true meaning and turned it into a religious word.
Ohhh..we can start a new denomination - "The First Church of the Cyber Laying on of Hands".
