  • “The breath of our nostrils, the anointed of the LORD, was taken in their pits, of whom we said, under his shadow we shall live among the heathen.” (Lamentations 4.20).

Everyone longs for coming across with someone in whom they can hang on utterly. I know that we are soused in a culture where people struggle to bump into a superhero that can sort out all their problems.

And this isn’t novelty. Israel coveted the same thing:

  • “Nevertheless the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel; and they said, Nay; but we will have a king over us; that we also may be like all the nations; and that our king may judge us, and go out before us, and fight our battles.” (1Samuel 8.19,20).

Israel went off the direct leadership of the Creator (1Samuel 8.7) to bank on a human being. For the most that this human being can be anointed by the Eternal, everybody is flawed and limited because of their sins (Isaiah 59.7,8; Isaiah 64.6; Romans 3.9-18). Only Jesus is good and perfect (Matthew 19.17; Mark 10.18; Luke 18.19).

So, if you desire a true New Year, hang on only to Jesus Christ (your real strength, rock, fortress, deliverer, God, buckler, salvation and high tower – Psalm 18.1,2) and, instead of hoping run into someone that will solve all your problems, may there be in you alacrity to be the solution and joyfulness in the life of everybody with who you happen upon.

Certainly, each encounter isn’t by chance, but moved by Christ that wish to do through your life exceeding abundantly above all that you can ask or think, according to the power of the Holy Spirit that works in you (Ephesians 3.20). After all, if you really believe in Jesus Christ, you are anointed with the Holy Spirit who teaches you everything you really need:

  • “But the anointing which all of you have received of him abides in you, and all of you need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teaches you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it has taught you, all of you shall abide in him.” (1John 2.27).
