I don't know if anyone's been following the Doreen Virtue saga, but I had a couple of observations so I thought I'd start a thread on it.
For those who might not be aware, Doreen Virtue was a famous New Ager who claims to have had a vision of Jesus in January of 2017 which thrust her into the world of Evangelical Christianity. Since then a great controversy has arisen over whether her vision was real or otherwise. That's the nutshell version; but there's much more to this story, which we can get into if there's interest.
What I wanted to comment on is the vision itself. The following image is a painting of the vision which Virtue had commissioned. What's the one thing you notice about "Jesus'" hands? Answer: no nail marks.
The next image is from the cover of a deck of cards Virtue had published the preceding year in 2016. It bears a striking resemblance to the vision Jesus.
As a New Ager, Doreen Virtue's world would have been filled with many such images of Jesus and angels with light coming from the heart. One of the most iconic Catholic images is Sacred Heart of Jesus. In Virtue's Jesus vision, I don't see anything but a New Age Jesus.
