James 4:8 says, "Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. " Since I became a Christian, I desired to be near to God but had trouble finding a way. I realize now that I was looking for Him in the wrong places. And one of those places was in non-Christian media.
I did not grow up believing in Christ and was completely unfamiliar with Christian media. Within the last few years, the Lord challenged me to give up non-Christian media. Since then, I have learned to LOVE Christian music, Christian books and magazines, and Christian television.
Now I can say I have drawn near to God and He has drawn near to me. If you want to hear God more clearly, I challenge you to sacrifice some of the time you spend on non-Christian media and choose Christian instead! If you already do, I commend you on such a wise choice!
