This isnt something I'd normally share, but I keep having the most random dreams.
When I was young I had horrible dreams... no worse than I do now, but the feelings and fears associated with them we're so much more real than conscious life.
My Aunty prayed for me when I was young because of a reoccurring dream that kept haunting me, and praise God, it went away.
After that I still dreamt and had nightmares but figured out how to recognise a dream and either wake myself up, or stay asleep in the knowledge that Im dreaming.. generally Id just wake up though.
After a time of this (years) very few dreams that I actually slept through without recognising had fear associated with them... very rarely do they evoke emotion whilst i'm unconsciously dreaming now.
This i would have thought would have affected my dreaming and I would have had less "far-out" dreams.
But no. But if anything, they've gotten more strange as i've grown older.
From dreams that do have and dont consciously recognise, I awake with a sense of wonderment that I could be thinking something like that.. the most common thought when i wake up is "man that was weird" before I roll over and go back to sleep.
I had an old house mate that had a "dream dictionary". I told her one of my dreams and she matched it up.. it didnt make any sense to my life at all so I dismissed it.
Does anyone know of any other methodologies for the interpretation of dreams?
Or are they simply cultivated, and the bi-product of all the environmental stimuli my brain has absorbed since I was born?
Anyone had any experience giving off such strong impression without giving subjecting the implied emotion on yourself?
(strangely i dont dream about movies if i watch something scary or contraversal.. at least not in any way i can identify.. I consider my conscious mind pretty imaginative.. but my unconscious mind is... well)

Just an example.. one that isnt too far-out.
I was with a friend (who i cant remember but it was definitely a she and she was definitely a close friend) but also with many other people I didnt know.
We were being herded from one room through a corridor to another room. I didnt know what had happened before but i got the impression there had been many rooms before it.
We were in some sort of internment camp but it had the feel of a processing centre to it. I can't describe why more than that there were guards giving orders and we were obeying quickly but thats the impression I got.
The room we were taken to was a set up like a class room. Other than the hall like enterance we came in, there were desks and chairs in rows, a soldier at the front, windows along one side and a door leading somewhere else where the windows stopped.
A soldier up the front was telling us to remove our wallets, purses, hand-bags, and jackets and place them on our table.
Then we were told to line up to be checked before going through to the next room.
There was no indication as to why this was the case but there was the impression of death through that door.
The room had changed and now instead of windows along one wall it was open to a snow filled street, but the wall was replaced with a chainlink fence with barbed wire.
I noticed that the guards (there was another one now) were only paying attention to the person at the front of the que waiting to get through the door.
So I gathered up wallets and handbags in the hopes they'd have money to help us escape and jackets as well. (i guess for warmth but i didnt get any impression from the jackets)
I grabbed my friend and took her to the fence. the tables were close enough that we could use them to climb up. She was afraid of being caught and she wasnt a good climber so i made her go first so i could push her from the bottom and then follow her, all the while encouraging her and checking over my shoulder.
Then I woke up and that was it. No feeling or fear or terror at any of emotive response really. Just a sensation of "weird!" before i went back to sleep.

If I'm not mistaken, I think you had a vision--not a dream. Just an impression.

Secondly, I am of the opinion (for now, anyways) that something was troubling you when you went to bed (and it may not have been some movie you saw at the cinema or something you ate); I would propose that the main idea of your dream was how much you desired to escape the "prison" (this truly being the focal point). Your friend could just be someone you'd thought would be cool to have as a sort of "sidekick".

Most important question I'd ask you though was when your impressions were the strongest during the vision; from what I gather, they were the strongest when you "felt" that the soldiers were treating you and your friend like prisoners, when you "felt" the need to escape, and how you "felt" as you and your friend were escaping--was there anything else I overlooked?

Man if this was a vision, then i have visions every night. Dont think i can pay much credence to it... more, a vivid imagination coupled with developmental, early childhood, and continuing environmental stimuli. I've always supposed anyway.
As said, the feeling, what i "felt" from things is not emotionally attached. In fact, for what's going on in my dreams, they're decidedly emotionally detached. The feel of each part of the dream seems almost like an interpretation... but i dont like the word interpretation, because it implies I should be able to explain the feeling of it.. but I can't.
As for wanting to escape something.. maybe, but i dont think so. I'm in God's hands these days and walking down his path. My social life is filled with christians and non christians alike with their problems but Im always happy to help them out. My life, is.. is the best it's ever been.
I wonder.. if the escaping was the focal point or just the end result? Was it the prison itself, being as it was the main of the dream?
But this is just it... I have no idea. No strong emotions to point a large directional arrow for things to be interested in... only the odd (misnamed) feeling of what something means or is going to happen. Sometimes about the seemingly most mundane things, sometimes not. But as always, upon waking up, there's nothing but a sensation of... "weird!"
I know, im repeating myself now.
I don't mean to be dismissive but these sorts of dreams have just been a part of life for so long i've grown to live with them.. hence, no emotion now.
I just wish some magical person would float into my life that could.... define, for me. Someone who'd had a similar birth into bad dreams and changing them thusly.
What is strange though, is once I become consciously aware of the dream.. and in one of the rarer situations where i don't wake up, the dream never remains the same. I never remain and explore everything that is going on. My control over it sometimes extends completely and I change everything.. but usually the setting remains the same.. regardless of what it is... but everything else vanishes and I roam as i want to roam. And although conscious of the dream, I never think to explore what was going on prior to the dream in these weirder cases.
But anyway..
Thanks for responding on this one. Havent met many people willing to ponder these things. Usually too much of a random conversation for the average-dreaming-bear.
God Bless - D

So your impression is that these visions may not necessarily have an "interpretation", but rather, they are dreams about your thoughts of the future (or maybe, dreams of your REAL future for your life which are determined by the choices you make). Some of these kind of dreams are like those really long movies at the cinema that have the "interlude" (the interlude being the main focus in this analogy representing the "interruption" in your dream). You know...like how this dream you mentioned ended kind of abruptly with you helping the girl over the fence---but you just didn't find out whether you and her actually escaped or not.

Your dream was...half-finished.

(I don't know if any of that made sense; if not, I'll try to clarify what I mean.)
