well maybe don't ask him to show you in a certain way. Just ask God to reveal to you in general. He can show you through some pretty cool ways. He has answered some of my questions through his words, through visions, and through people. It doesn't have to be in any specific way.

I had an experience in church and God was trying to impart something in me words and it was coming so fast I said to God" this is too much and over the course of a year, likely years God got what He wanted across to me . When God is determined to do something it gets done and if were not ready He waits and it still gets done.

Could have just been a coincidence. I'd say to stick with it! Dreams are a great way to explore your own needs and whatnot, as well as a great channel for God to talk to you through.
