i have noticed more latetly that new memebers are confused about chat at cc when coming in the lounge because they are looking for deeper chat about the bible, and when they come into the lounge yes they are welcomed but a few are being shocked when we are so relaxed and almost having too much fun ...

is it possible as they enter chat, for the first time, to have a sshort message give a brief description for the lounge, prayer and the bible study rooms? that way the might have a better understanding of the rooms and may choose a better room to start their time at cc chat..

i Know that chat is a lot of fun and it does have a serious purpose, but i know that new members have their own reason for coming to chat and i would love to see everyone to throughly enjoy chat for all purpose from silliness to deep rooted testimony times to sharing of their own understand of scripture ( with out nasty hash debates)

and is it possible to open an all you can eat cake buffet!?!?!

yes it would be nice to have them drop in to the prayer room but it is very often empty...i havew long wished we had a schedule for prayer people to be in that room, so that people can know when they can visit it and find someone actually in there to pray for them

If there was a schedule, people would stop ignoring the room because of it always being empty when they drop in. There are a few of us who would sign up for a regular prayer time :)

Having a schedule means one person has to be responsible for finding people for and scheduling this 24/7/365. This would be a huge undertaking and require many volunteers. The mods are all volunteers who come on when they have time. There is no way they could have someone plan this out. And would be difficult to find enough volunteers. While it may be a nice concept, when you think through all the details required, it doesn't seem at all feasible.

The real problem is not that people don't understand the rooms, but don't know there is more than one option.

Well, i think we should get more information out of them as well as informing them about the chat interface, how there is a rooms list up at the top right, and then determine according to their questions which room would be best for them to be brought to. Others have thought there should be an outreach room, but again, the problem of no one being in there to reach out stands. Other times they're brought to the mens or womens ministry rooms, because the question is more personal and they don't want 20 people chiming in or knowing about it. I think it's working out pretty well thus far, I've witnessed 3 myself coming to the Lord, and many others who knew the Lord and got signed up for CC.

be nice to have something like this so we ppl who are not faramiliar with this chat software understand there are different places to go and different purpose for each room upon entry to this wonderful chat site..

Occasionally we'll open what is called the WelcomeWagon room up to new members for their first 24 hours of chat, and they're put in there automatically. We have a few volunteers who stay in that room and welcome people and explain a little how the chat goes. Sadly though, we just don't have enough volunteers to keep someone in there all the time, so unless someone is available, we don't keep that room active because if they arrive there and no one else is in the room they get confused and quit, and then don't come back.

Perhaps if you feel this strongly about something, you can speak with RoboOp about volunteering some time for the WelcomeWagon room yourself!

'Your' God eh? So your God is different than mine?

Having faith that GOD can do something is different than believing that people are willing to constantly volunteer their time, and finding already busy volunteer mods to expend even more of their time constantly creating schedules. God can do anything, sure, but people still have limitations. But this is irrelevant if you somehow see yourself as above me and YOUR special, private God, which must be better and different than my lowly God.
