You may right.
The point I was trying to make had to do with the introduction of the term Passover which replaced the commonly used Easter. They were translated from the same Greek word, which you also pointed out pask. That would be like some Bible words that were not translated because they couldn't think of an English equivalent. A lot of place names are like that as is the common Selah in the Psalms.

easter isn't "translated" from Pascha.

it is substituted.

it is found in the wessex translations because, as Bede clearly put, it was the pre-existing name of the season among the pagans there during which Pascha takes place.

easter has zero linguistic relationship to Pascha.

Yep, this is why it sounds pagan and Catholic

Because it is pagan and the catholics don't walk in Truth so they just follow the pagans

They're gonna be real blown when they realize even the Easter Bunny is Christian and was made by Christians to symbolize and help talk about the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (since they come out of their holes in the Spring like how Jesus came out the tomb). Praise Jesus.

Too bad none of that can be proven from God's Word.

And Jesus went to the Cross for people, not wabbits

It's a wonder the Europeans even survived the late-medieval period not knowing when they could hunt rabbits to eat and all.

They didn't want to eat wabbits because they make people jumpy.

As far I as I can tell, Luther....

Taught false doctrine and should be ignored. He was a known drunk too.

The relationship between the rabbits and the medieval European Christian incel monks is.......interesting.

No to the wabbits who wished the monks would mate with their own species and leave wabbits alone. :ROFL:

It's possible I suppose that not everyone's father taught their children when to hunt rabbits and they just got them in the frozen section at Walmart back in those day's? Who knows right...

Back then it was called Monkmart

And the translators obviously knew what "pascha" meant. But, after the cross, Christ fulfilled the Passover. Something new has come, no more Passover to be observed, but Christ our Passover.

And yet the word they decided to call ""easter" is passover

The whole idea is the Lord is going to passover judging those who are born again abiding in Christ.

The concept comes from the old testament which was a type of what the Lord would later do through Jesus' work.

I am altogether a sinner saved by grace.

What? You got born again and you still live in sinful behavior?

You really should study the entire New Testament and see where we are told to turn away from sin and walk after the Spirit.

There won't be any sinners in Heaven.

glad you didn't say Christ our easter.

Yeah, that would have been awkward since Jesus is not the new age pagan hippie some claim Him to be.

Lol well obviously it's not in the Bible because the european medieval Christians made the Easter Bunny up in the 1600s AD as a symbolic discourse about Jesus' resurrection. Though for fun fact the Bible says the wabbits (conies) are one of the Four Wise Animals, praise Jesus.

Proverbs 30:24-28

24 There be four things which are little upon the earth, but they are exceeding wise:

25 The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer;

26 The conies are but a feeble folk, yet make they their houses in the rocks;

27 The locusts have no king, yet go they forth all of them by bands;

28 The spider taketh hold with her hands, and is in kings' palaces.

God's Word has been attacked ever since Satan deceived Eve in the garden.

I've heard the holy Name of my Savior attacked too on this forum.
What a shame.

Also btw the Easter Bunny is not Catholic, the Lutherans and other germanic based Protestant groups invented it. Again, symbolic discourse and entertainment for children connecting to Jesus rising from the tomb. Lol so the irony of the anti-rabbitites begins to stew, praise Jesus.

Actually looks like it may have come from German folklore, translated into the Text by Luther, picked up by Tyndale who read Luther, carried down through history until it met with marketing, and here we are.

Conies?
This must be an old English term. I had to look it up, it’s a rock badger.

Yea conies is an old term for rabbits, it's still a term for them by the way. Kinda funny how the more modern translation renders them as "rock badgers" when you consider the context of the proverb lol.

Aren’t badgers kind of fierce little critters? Teeth that don’t let go once they bite.
Badgers and rabbits are 2 different animals.

I quickly googled it. Evidently, the Conies are perhaps hyraxes, which is another term/ animal I’m not familiar with. I don’t even know if we have such animals here? lol

Easter is Pagan.
If you want to celebrated Jesus' life, death, resurrection and sacrifice, Passover is the better and Biblical option.

I agree Easter is pagan but I'm not sure Passover is the way to go either, especially for Gentiles. I think if Christians want to have an annual celebration of Christ's resurrection that's great; but it should be just that, nothing more. Many Christians hold on to Easter because it's what the world expects. It's just one more way Christianity has compromised with the world.

Oh, we somewhat agree again, pagan traditions.
