WOW....I had no idea. I had heard a similar criticism about Christmas, but this is frightening. I guess Satan is really on the warpath for deception. I'm going to pray and study about this.

I am quite concervative in my beliefs and my parenting style.
I have taught my children that we live in this world...but are not of it. BUT, when you are in a world and not of it you have to figure out how things in the world we be a part of your life since you are bombarded with them on so many facets.

As far as Easter goes...my children have never been taught that this giant bunny delivers easter baskets to all the children, all the while hiding eggs along the way for them to fine.

I have taught my kids that eggs are a symbol of new life....and that when we do an egg hunt, it can be a lot of fun...but to remember the new life we have in Christ because he died on the cross, was buried and then rose three days later.

I do fill an easter basket for my children...but nothing extravagant. And I have taught them that they are receiving a gift to help us remember the gift of salvation that is available to anyone who wants it and believes.

I believe my kids have a good foundation without me taking away everything that is thrown in their faces in stores, at school etc.

(and just in case your curious, we do not do santa, or the tooth fairy either.)
 
Although Easter might be a pagan holiday, and unfortunately Christ's resurrection is affiliated with a pagan name, the Church has used something that might have been ungodly, into something godly. We should not get caught up with what Easter meant, as that is a tool of Satan to get our eyes off of Jesus. We should look at Easter Day as the day Christ rose from the dead. His resurrection verifying proof that Christ is who He said was.

Now if you have a problem calling that day, Easter. That's fine. You can go ahead and change it to Resurrection Day if you like. The bottom line is that it's just a name, and it does not distort the fact that Jesus rose from the dead.

Here's my biblical basis.

Romans 14:5-6
One person esteems one day above another; another esteems every day alike. Let each be fully convinced in his own mind.
He who observes the day, observes it to the Lord; and he who does not observe the day, to the Lord he does not observe it. He who eats, eats to the Lord, for he gives God thanks; and he who does not eat, to the Lord he does not eat, and gives God thanks.
 
This is a great post and I am glad that more and more people are waking up to Satan's deceptions.
