1 Thessalonians 4:11
Live to Please God
…10for indeed you do practice it toward all the brethren who are in all Macedonia. But we urge you, brethren, to excel still more, 11and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life and attend to your own business and work with your hands, just as we commanded you, 12so that you will behave properly toward outsiders and not be in any need.
 
O bless our God, ye people,
and make the voice of his praise to be heard:
which holdeth our soul in life,
and suffereth not our feet to be moved.

For thou, O God, hast proved us:
thou hast tried us, as silver is tried.
Thou broughtest us into the net;
thou laidst affliction upon our loins.

What shall I render unto the Lord for all his benefits toward me?
I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the Lord.

"Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, [SUP]4 [/SUP]and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, [SUP]5 [/SUP]and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us." Romans 5:3-5

This has helped me through the pain of a failed foot reconstruction, and every single day I am in pain, which lately is all the time.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
[SUP]6 [/SUP]In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths." Prov. 3:5-6

This verse really taught me to trust God no matter what my circumstances are. God is in control!
