Notes:
having made known (Aorist Active Particple) = a motion picture of a past action with emphasis on the action and not time. The active tells us that the subject (God) is the performer of the action. The importance of this is that there is/ will be no new revelation of God's will which He revealed through Christ and the faith in Him as the means of salvation. There is nothing new to be revealed in God's salvational plan which has not already been said.
the mystery = the mystery of Christ Eph 3:4. That God's plan of reconciliation was through Jesus becoming the Christ.
His will = It is important to note here that God was determined to see the fulfillment of His salvation plan through Christ. I know I keep saying this, but for some reason I am lead to keep saying this. Perhaps, there are some who feel that God was not delighted to have done this, but that He did it through obligation of fairness. God forbid! Seeing that it says that God so loved the world that He gave up (supplied, surrendered, delivered) His only begotten Son. We did nothing to deserve His grace, but He gave it nonetheless. We rebelled against Him, not He against us, but yet He sought reconciliation first.
set forth = to set out to accomplish something for one's self (middle voice). Him having purposed in Himself the fulfillment of His gracious act, is answer enough in response to what was said in response to 'His will'. God wanted this more than we can imgine, inasmuch as a man is purposed in a set goal.
