Eruption in Pompeii

Warning: If you don't like rock music, you'll hate this!

In all probably, Vesuvius erupted on August 24-25, 79 AD, utterly destroying two towns. One of those towns was Pompeii.

Last year, something else erupted in Pompeii -- David Gilmour!

Not only, WOW this is great, but I got stuck on a humorous note. Imagine this concert on August 20, 79. Which would have been more shocking to the citizens of Pompeii? Of course the volcano would have been more terrifying and devastating, but can you imagine how they could possibly process this scene?

I'm from the 20th century, and this wowed me to the core. How would first century Pompeiians process it?

(Also, just really fantastic if you love Pink Floyd or love great guitaring. And, nanny nanny booboo to anyone young enough to think old people can't jam. lol)

do you have any idea of what you are 'really watching'? it's nothing more than
spell-binding-witch-craft in one of it's best capturing genres...the 'circle is the symbol of the 'sun-god'...

the people are entranced and hypnotized!!!

it's OK if you don't agree, we love you always, and 'them',..:rolleyes::)
 
Wow, I think I have a migraine coming on. Lol

You would be surprised, finger picking an electric guitar and adding a few
reverb sound effects to it, isn't as hard as you might image.
(I use to play guitar).

Now the lighting guy, he probably had the harder task.:p

The circle is a big video screen so the people in the back can see close ups occasionally. Whoever invented the sun-god would create such a thing like the people of Pompeii in 79 would have created this concert.

As for entranced and hypnotized? I'll give you entranced. It's quite the performance as well as fantastic music, but hypnotized? How? I had that same wow-factor watching Jesus Christ Superstar (twice. lol)

I love when someone who has the ability to do something fairly easily, thinks anyone can do that. The closest I come to being able to play music is to turn on a song. I'm tone deaf. That, plus a bit of a math block, so couldn't learn it as math equations either. So, yeah, it's not easy for me. It's not even possible for me. To me this is like watching Di Vinci paint, Michelangelo chisel marble, or David Copperfield do magic tricks.

Playing guitar is easy honest Lol

It's kind of like learning to type with one hand, placement of
fingers etc. The strumming with the other is easy - try it go on have a
go! Get a cheap guitar and a begginers book. Maybe Spaulding can have a
go too. :)
 
Was a cool clip Lynn . I was blessed as a kid I was able to see the Pompeii Amphitheater on a school field trip when my dad was stationed at a NATO base in Naples. Thankyou for the vid and the reminder to go through my old pictures to see if I still have pictures from there .

LOL I never got typing either. LOL

(I'm a six finger typist, and all my two thumbs do is hit the space key. lol)

On the other hand, Spaulding has a guitar. He likes playing along with the Who, and at the end of the song he does what the Who used to do, except on my head, instead of using the stage floor. He smashes his guitar on my head until his arm gets tired. lol

I took Latin in high school, so I got to learn/translate a lot of Roman history. Two things I wanted to see in my life -- an aqueduct still working and the archaeology dig at Herculaneum. (A lot of translating, but more about the other town that was sealed by that volcano. Ends up they did more work at Pompeii. Sort of like buying a BlueRay instead of HD. Latin teacher was sure they'd go for Herculaneum, not Pompeii. lol)

And Floyd was another thing on my bucket list I won't get to. When Floyd was doing the Wall Tour, hubby's brother got tickets to the NYC concert. He was looking for someone to go with. He even thought of his brother, but had it in his mind brother/hubby was a Johnny Mathis fan. (Only because that was the first concert hubby went to when he was a kid.) We were both huge fans. (Had to give up listening too often, because, man! They are depressing and hopeless.) We have both teased his brother for that quite often since. ("Is there anything I can do for you?" "Yeah, you could have taken us to The Wall concert." :rolleyes:)

put an instrument into their paws:rolleyes::)...
