How We Ended Up Raising the Stupidest Generation
Information overload and the habit of having computers doing our thinking for us.
To make things worse the internet is designed to put you into an echo chamber. The algorithms look for content that matches previous content that you liked. In this way you are given the illusion that everyone agrees with your pre conceived notions. This leads to confirmation bias.
It is crucial that our assumptions be questioned.
For example, in this thread people were talking as if The US and Europe were going to go to war over Greenland, with armies. Prime example of how stupid dialogue has become.
You know you are in "group think" when you have to ridicule and insult those who question your assumptions. We see this with what we call "Karens", people who seem to have no sense of humor at all. Instead of seeing the absurdity of what they are saying they are offended and insulted.
For example, if I question something that Trump does do you see that as "betrayal" or as an honest attempt to know the truth and think critically?
Youtube favors titles that scream emergency, urgency, and crisis. But ask yourself a simple question, is the US really going to war with Europe over a place that has a population of Hempstead, NY?
Look at the title of this thread "Europe sends troops". Since when does "troops" equal two soldiers?
Trump said he wanted Greenland and would do whatever it takes to get it. So then, a reasonable question is why? I asked what is the strategic value of Greenland? It turns out that strategically it is quite significant, especially in a time of war, and the comments coming out of the Whitehouse reenforced this talking about the last time the US took control of Greenland during WW2.
