I see Preaching and Teaching as two different things.

Not sure what the difference is, but there is a difference isn't there?

Charles Stanley and Doug Bachelor and even John Hagee usually have a straight forward and complex message at the same time. All of them have their sermons and teachings available on the internet and also videos on YouTube.

IMO, preaching is what we do to forward the gospel on to others, it's a persuasion speech. Teaching is for the saints for their growth and edification, to improve our preaching. Again, IMO, little preaching should be done in Churches. I don't go to church to hear the gospel over and over again, I go there to worship with the body and to be exhorted in the word for spiritual growth.

Preaching is what preachers do! Teaching is what teachers do! LOL!

One difference is that good teaching usually involves interaction between the teacher and students. Teaching is explaining truth so students can grasp it.

Preaching is proclaiming God's message and truth. It is often more "prophetical" than teaching.

The terms definitely have overlap and in some circles are used interchangeably.

I agree. I see preaching as "proclaiming". For example to "preach the gospel" is to proclaim that Christ died, rose again and your sins are forgiven by His blood. We are proclaiming what is a fact and true.

I see teaching as an "explaining" of the why and how of truth.

Jesus and Paul did both - preached and taught. ( I want to say "teached" but not sure it's appropriate English...lol )

In the scripture that said that Jesus could do no mighty work because of their unbelief except that He healed a few with minor sicknesses - Jesus then went around - teaching.

You are correct with the word, "taught." Since the 1600's there really has been no usage of the word, "teached."

My advice is be extremely careful with who you listen to. Everyone is going to try and convince you what to believe. Look at the division just in this thread! Keep reading your Bible, and pray for The Holy Spirit to lead and guide you. Sometimes, that might mean listening to different preachers. Other times, it might be through a book. And certainly you should be involved in a local church if possible! (I don't recognize your flag, and you may be somewhere without a Christian church.)

I must concur. There's so many with their "leanings" on particular doctrines that I won't listen to a TV preacher anymore. It's my guess that over 95% of them are frauds, leading young christians astray.

I no longer have a favorite.
 
John Macarthur and Pentecostalism. Macarthur is a fundamentalist Christian who has chosen to believe that all that is being done by the Pentecostals is fake. He is incorrect because only 95% of what is done by Pentecostals is fake, there is a small fraction of folks in that movement that are actually operating in the gifts of the Spirit. I have heard that Macarthur is a solid bible teacher, however like of lot of believers he has chosen to ignore what the bible really has to say in this area. To sum this up, the gifts of the Spirit were never taken from the church, on the other hand, most of what goes as the gifts of the Spirit in Pentecostalism is fake.

If I've been to even 50% of Pentecostal churches, I could never conclude that 95% of it is fake. Technically & mathematically it is impossible to do so.
 
Wow, Samuel! Two posts in a row where you relegate phoniness to 95% of two different groups of people.

Boy, you must visit at least 800 to 1500 churches a day to be able to declare that wondrous fact. That is amazing. I doubt anyone else in the entire world has those powers.

Not a problem, since you ignore everyone who disagrees with you anyway. Who will notice whether it is literally or figuratively ignored,other than less words used?

In my opinion, preaching and teaching have a commonality where the Preaching can be "public Teaching of information "....Idea where Teaching is giving out information by an authoritarian figure.

Thus they can be used in an either/or situation.......Examples

One can preach to others about the ethics of 'Lying'.......Here one is teaching the others, why one should not lie.

One teaches with or without the public forum and the same goes for Preaching.
