I never expected in my lifetime to watch you waste away

I never expected in my lifetime to go back to that dark place

I only wanted to sing a song of love and praise my God

But now I’m getting ready for impended funeral and it hurts a lot.



I never expected in my lifetime to have to watch such things

I never expected in my lifetime to go back to all of it

I only wanted to smile for awhile and be again thankful

But now I’m paying for the consequences of lost souls being vengeful.



They say you cannot appreciate the light without having darkness around

But I know when they’re lying, there’s no truth in darkness to be found

So the world can keep bending to the point that it’s all broken

But the Lord will straight and repair ‘cause the Lord has spoken.
