when i was younger, i definitely didn't have the communication skills or the self confidence necessary to explain my feelings. so sometimes i would just silently back out. i didn't know what else to do. i hid. it's a defense tactic.

but now that i'm older and i realize that everyone is entitled to their own feelings and thoughts, and that they are valid, i usually share them with people and explain why something they did or said hurt me. if they don't act like they care when i go to the lengths to explain it? i do just back out.

if we've had multiple arguments like that, where they for whatever reason just cannot see my side of it, i do kind of back out.

once this year i did end a friendship without explaining why.
the girl i think still thinks we're friends who just don't talk anymore but my heart is closed to her. she did something i couldn't discus with her.

but when it comes to relationships, i am usually the pursuer of ones who drop out the bottom of the barrel. i always at least send one more message stating something along the lines of "where did you go?"
and sometimes the person just got busy, and will continue to communicate with me. and sometimes they don't reply.

if i'm silent it's over something i'm too embarrassed to say. but long term relationships deserve an explanation for their ending.
