It is dificult to even contemplate the existance of evolution especially from a christian perspective as this in itself makes evolution critiqued with too much religious bias. What is quite remarkable is the fact those who support creationism are often those who are really qualified - or whom may have a quasi qualification. I am a christian, and no matter what, whether evolution has occured or not is just not important. What is rather pathetic is how lay person christians just believe everything they hear....and make themselves look stupid against modern science. i do not have a background in science for that matter.

Dude that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Before you spout off nonsense educate your self. Evolution does not say we evolved from monkeys. Rather we came from a subspecies that (in simple terms) branched off into two different species, one becoming what we know to be apes, and the other what we know to be humans. Now I do not believe in evolution, but I will say this, when a Christian starts a rant about how theres no way we came from monkeys I cant help but shake my head. The reason people dont listen to us is because we literally know nothing we focus only on God and the word (some not even that) and we dont educate ourselves in the world so that when someone asks this we would have an answer instead of making ourselves look like fools. Instead of asking why are monkeys still here (which by the way anyone can answer that question) why not say this. In order for there to be a beginning there must be an end, which means there must be time. Time is not just something we made up. If there was no time we would never be born nor would we die, we would just be. Now with that said, the evolutionary theory is missing its beginning. In order for there to be a beginning, and im not just talking about the earth. Im talking about the smallest little atom that started it all, there had to be a beginning to that little atom. Science cannot explain time. According to the bible God is not in time. God had no beginning, and He has no end. Now that is very hard for us to comprehend because we only know time. Its like describing water to an alien on mars who has never heard, seen, tasted, touched, or smelled water. That is why I believe in Creation because in order for time to exist I believe there had to have been a creation.
I am very careful when I speak to non-believers about why I believe in Creation vs Evolution. I know enough from what I have learned, and from what I have read to be comfortable in what I believe. I am however not a Scientist, and while I try to retain as many facts as possible to support my Creationist position I will be the first one to admit I dont know it all, and gladly point them towards the people who do. I don't just regurgitate the information I hear, (something Mr Juby told our camp staff and kids so many times) its not useful for anyone, I try hard to look into the claims made by all Creation scientists. To have a vacant, someone with a degree said it must make it right is useless, makes Creationist Christians no more knowledgable in debate then the Evolutionist.
I do believe that evolution is an important matter for the Christian community, whether it happened or not. The bible doesn't make room for billions for years or the macro-evolution from one species to another. Micro-evolution, or adaptation is a visible natural process that we have and can continue to observe, the same cannot be said for Macro-evolution.

well, when you think about it, it makes sense.... how species have evolved over the years. moreover, the universe is expanding. all other galaxies are all moving away from one origin... no one knows where that is, but we have been able to track the movement of the galaxies. it looks something like the fragments of a grenade, to simplify it a little... this points to the big bang theory (not the t.v. show). if you are talking about earth, and its evolution, well.... there is pretty solid evidenc linking us to chimpanzees. we are, after all, just distand cousins of them. we share about 4%

I am sorry guys, there is so much evidence supporting the theory of evolution that even if we had no fossils left from strata at all, evolution would still be the prevailing theory for the complexity of life among the scientific/ scholarly community.
But there is good news: belief in God and evolution are not incompatible whatsoever. Evolution makes absolutely no claims as to how life originated (see a-biogenisis), just how it developed over the course of billions of years. There are many evolutionary biologists that consider themselves Christian. In fact, the founder of the Human Genome Project was a devout Christian himself who found it to the greater glory of God to learn about the vehicle in which he used to produce complex life on Earth.
Again, I'm sorry - it would behoove many of you to have more open mindsets on this particular topic if you are looking to have meaningful and intellectual discourse.

I for one do believe in evolution, it happens on a microscopic scale everyday (e.g. drug resistant viruses) and to me it makes sense that it would also happen to larger organisms only at a much slower rate.
However, I don't think that it should directly contradict the bible. It just means that the original creation was imperfect. Just as many of us still are today.
