Psalm 32.7 [AMP]
You are a hiding place for me;
You, Lord, preserve me
from trouble, You surround me
with songs and shouts
of deliverance.
Selah [Pause, and calmly think
of that]!
God begins with grace. Our new life began with Salvation. Our Heavenly Father
sent His unique Son Jesus to us. Jesus, unique among the sons of God--us, because
He came to die for us--for our sins--He became Sin in order that we-who believe and
accept Him as our personal Savior--might be made the righteousness of God in Him
[See 2 Corinthians 5.21.].
In Romans 6.23, we read that the wages of sin is death. those who will not believe
and reject (continuously) the Work of the Cross and do not receive Jesus' invitation to
come in and cleanse our hearts will face the judgment that they must go to hell and be
forever separated from God.
The wages are very steep. Rebellion may not have an immediate consequence for
those who continually transgress God's laws, but in the end the punishment for
breaking His laws (because they would not accept that Jesus died and paid the price
for all of them (and us)) is eternal death-separation from God.
C. S, Lewis, in The Problem of Pain, wrote:
"The characteristic of lost souls is their rejection of everything that is not simply themselves" (Von Hügel Essays
and Addresses 1st series, What Do We Mean By Heaven and Hell? Lewis 623).
"[The lost selfish soul] has his wish--to be wholly in the self and to make best of what he finds there. And what he
finds there is Hell. ... to enter hell, is to be banished from [full/ whole] humanity. ...What casts himself into hell is
not a man: it is remains..." (Lewis 623, 625).
The selfish man who sees the error of his ways, and comes to God will find a
gracious, loving, embracing Heavenly Father Who will take the formerly selfish man
(who had once sold himself into slavery to the world's way of life) and bring him back
into relationship again as a son of God. The one who has wasted all that God had
given him in a wasteful lifestyle can return to our Heavenly Father and begin a new
life with Him.
If one abides/ remains in Christ Jesus, there is fruitfulness, His favor, His
blessings, Peace, and His anointing upon his life. Because you set out to know Him,
the knowing of Him intimately2, Jesus tells us, brings the Holy Spirit to remain and
abide with/ in you [See John 14.17b (HCSB).]. Because you set your love on Him, He
will protect and bring you satisfaction that far surpasses any earthly security or
gratification.
