The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
Last week my world shattered as my rabbit passed away in my arms.
As I let out a cry, almost immediately this verse came to mind, and though it didn't make the pain go away, there was comfort.
The comforting thoughts that followed in those moments were certainly not my own thinking.
I had to get my kids up and ready for school and as I was nearing my back window I thought " I want to see my yard full of baby bunnies!" (I live in a place where lots of wild life abounds. A couple years ago we had about 12 rabbits in the yard at once, last year hardly any, and at this point this year I had only seen 2 adult rabbits together at one time. But I had specifically thought of baby bunnies, here it is June and we hadn't seen any babies yet).
As I looked out the window I did indeed see one little baby bunny. And though it hurt, I couldn't help but smile.
I am always filled with peace when I see a rainbow in the sky.
Last night while driving home and talking bunny memories with my daughter, I happened to look up and as I did, a rainbow appeared. I said "Oh look! A rainbow!" My son looked and asked "where?" It had disappeared almost as quickly as it had appeared. Then we were driving past a section of trees and the spot it had been in couldn't be seen.
As we entered the clearing again, I looked but it wasn't there.
Even though we were on a small back road with no one else around I still had to focus on driving.
But when I looked up again, it was there. And this time I could see the arc almost to the end.
From where we were, it looked like the end was above our house.
As I drove along the side street, it disappeared again (but we were now just a turn away from home).
As I started to pull into the driveway we saw something run across. At first we thought it to be a squirl (way too many around here), but it turned out to be one of the adult rabbits.
It just sat there, chewing away on the weeds, watching us as we went inside.
