But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
Hebrews 11:6 (NKJV)

One thing I remember about being an undergraduate mathematics major in college was having to do proofs. In a proof, a person logically reasons from a given hypothesis to reach a suitable conclusion. Logical reasoning is good, but it does have its drawbacks. Suppose a mathematician develops a theorem (a statement that can be proven) and shows that it is true 99.9% of the time. Wouldn't he have to prepare another theorem to compensate for the 0.1% that he could not prove?

The key to Christianity is not logical reasoning in the sense that one has to prove the existence of God in order to know Him. The devotional verse above states that one must first believe (have faith) that God exists. Once a person has faith in the existence of God, then that person is on track to being rewarded for seeking the truth that will set him free. Where can the truth be found? In establishing a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, God's Son. Indeed, Jesus is "the way, the truth, and the life" (John 14:6, NKJV).
