False humility

 A man's pride shall bring him low: but honor shall uphold the humble in spirit.

We all fight with pride: it comes in many forms but is centered in self, however false humility will be the cause of many to stumble.
Ever listen to someone tell how they have done some deed and then claim its all the savior and not them?, I'm not speaking of sharing a testimony with joy and speaking of the work He does, I'm speaking of those who speak of how they led another to the Savior, or how they healed someone, or how at work they are the one who others ask questions about the bible, don't get me wrong, its good to share our experiances with one another, it both encouraging and edifying, what I speak of is those who exult self, they make it about them, how THEY did this or that, or how they spoke this or that, if you listen, it will not take long and you will see this.
False humility is not edifying, and it doesn't bring glory to the Father at all, it fleshly and devilish and needs to be rebuked at every turn, if you love one another you will not allow one to deceive themselves or others in this way. the enemy of our souls loves it when we exult self, after all despite popular view, this was the "original sin" the enemy attempted to exult himself above the Father, and he is always tempting mankind to do the same.

Real humility is often seen and not heard. Like you mention we hear often of people who say "i am so humble. I did this and that without expecting anything in return". "I am the most humble person i know". I truly humble person doesnt keep a "list" of things they have done. But like you say, in a testimony that is diffetent depending on the testimony. There are some who give what i call a "left me up" testimony bearing witness to their humility. A humble person actually has problems, in a way. Of talking about the things they have done.

Matthew 23:12-13
For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.
But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.
 
A guy in a factory was voted the most humble man in the plant. They gave him a badge posturing the fact. After about two hours, they had to take that badge away from him!

Did you really have to make it about your issues with leadership in the church? This thread is not about you and your hatred for the church.
 
Real humility cannot be faked because humility is a state of heart, we can boast of Lord and all he did using us as we are the vessels so long as we understand it was all him and his doing not ours. apart from him we cannot do anything in his kingdom false humility is easy to spot they often times will speak of themselves and hardly ever speak about God or they will say all glory and honor goes to God but then speak only of the deeds they did notice i said the deeds (they) did not the deeds God used them to do
 
False humility is worse than stinking pride. Blatantly arrogant people are less harmful than wolves under sheepskin. I know that through personal experience.
 
False humility is also saying of yourself that you are nothing, dirt or a worm before God..True humility is not thinking less of yourself but thinking of yourself less. It is teachable, open to correction and prefers the best for others more than self.
 
A faithful man is shown here

Prov 20:6 Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness:
but a faithful man who can find?

As Paul said,

1 Cr 3:5 Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos,
but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man?

1 Cr 3:6 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.

He concludes again,

1 Cr 3:7 So then neither is he that planteth any thing,
neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.

Says not to think more highly of yourself as you ought.

Gal 6:3 For if a man think himself to be something,
when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.

There was none greater born of women than John the baptist

Acts 13:25 and he said, behold, there cometh one after me,
whose shoes of his feet I am not worthy to loose.

Luke 17:10 So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you,
say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.

Similarly

Prov 11:25 The liberal soul shall be made fat:
and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.

1 Cr 3:8 Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one:
and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.

But who then are either the one that plants or watereth?

1 Cr 3:7 So then neither is he that planteth any thing,
neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.

These having done their duty also

1 John 15:9 For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle,
because I persecuted the church of God.

But by Gods grace he is what he is. Same theme of being nothing but something only by the grace of God, and them placing the praise and glory back upon God, there are other verses but heres a few

No where else does this verse ring truer than in the area of our assessing one's own humility...Jeremiah 17:9 KJVS[9] The heart is deceitful above all things , and desperately wicked: who can know it?
 
who gave you a new heart.

when did how i think or do, have anything to add to what has been given. to a believer.
