I think Shai is pointing out a trend that we see in the churches - prosperity teachings. Mega-churches have a lot of influence on Christians and so a lot of Christians are reeled in with this kind of teaching because everyone wants a good and prosperous life and nobody likes that "suffering" part of being a Christian or just being human. Most of these teachings are misinterpreted scriptures and therefore are unbiblical. Jesus was clear in his rhetorical question when he said that if the master suffers, will the servant not? Prosperity teachings are so consumed in the self that we should do this and that and claim this and that, and yes the bible talks about things like this but the way the bible teaches it still keeps the focus on God and its done that ultimately the glory remain Gods but it has been twisted to cater for us and the focus has shifted to us.

I've listened to all these pastors and some of their teachings are just like "whhaaa???". It is so focused on us but using misinterpreted scriptures to back it up claiming that this is what God wants. Ultimately in whatever teachings we listen to or actions we take we must ask, "will this in turn glorify God?". If not than chuck it, even it means your prosperity, your health, your money. The message of the bible is the plan of salvation and making it known to us. But we use it to pick up as much treasure we can along the way. All we do is hold God to ransom when we should just hold him high!
