Yay! Holidays are soon to begin. No time like the present to talk about family drama!

For example: My brother and mother are feuding with my grandmother! What fun! (Sarcasm) This means that we will most likely not be spending time with her on Thanksgiving.. and quite possibly Christmas either! I just came home from China..among other reasons, to reconnect with family! What's a girl to do?

Family drama! My favorite! I think I could write a book about it ( and I think we all could).

Sorry to hear about your family. Something similar happens with mine, although it's been happening since I was litte, just with different people every year :). This year they chose my cousin, the only family member who lives in the same city as us. To sum it up, my mom hmm...lets say she is not a fan of my cousin, who has 4 children whom I adore....so I can't see them, not even in a normal day because that would create conflict (even more). But as you said, what's a girl to do?

For that reason I hung this on my bedroom wall.

So sorry to hear that Bridget, and Miss k.. Maybe they can stop fighting and make up before the holidays. Nothing's impossible with God.

Dear Bridget,

Didn't someone once pray, "Dear Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace?" I believe that what you can do, in addition to praying over the situation, is to take the lead and set an example for the rest of your family. You are obviously an adult, so I am assuming you can come and go as you please. If your grandmother is in the area, take the initiative to visit her yourself. If she is not close by, call her.

While "visiting" with her, don't allow yourself to be drawn into the family strife. Tell her that you believe in the old saying, "If you can't say soemthing nice about someone, don't say anything at all.". Tell her about your mother and brother, and try to paint a good picture of them. Tell her that if you don't get together, you are going to miss her around the holidays.

Now, repeat the process with your brother and mother. Reminisce about happier times, when everyone was getting along (There was some time, wasn't there?). Try to act as a go-between with all your family members. Subtly plant the seed that the holidays are for forgiveness and thanks. While Easter is not the holiday we are focusing on, you might want to point out that Jesus broke bread with Judas less than 24 hours before he (Judas) betrayed Him.

In any case, even if your efforts are not successful, you can still set an example by visiting everyone on Thanksgiving and Christmas. In my opinion, many people pay too much attention to "who eats where" instead of enjoying the togetherness. Eat at everyone's (if you're up for it), or eat at noone's. What matters is the fact that you will have shown love and kindness to all your family members.

Hope this helps. :)

God bless.

I believe that if you maintain a positive attitude toward everyone involved in the "drama", and refuse to be

Just joshing Dave.

Many happy returns.

OHHHHH family drama...I was stamped at birth to go through this for my life's journey! If not my own family brood...its the spouses brood! I should be completely gray-headed....what can I say except pray to the Good Lord to help you through it & to show you how to serve Him through it all. Just have to try & love all these folks the best way you can....I know, I know...I shake my head too....but I just walk through it all holding my Lord's hand &He gets me through to the other side EVERY time! Good luck sister & have a blessed holiday!

I remember family drama...when I still had a lot of family. My grandparents and parents are all gone now. Maybe a reminder to your mom and brother as to how fleeting life really is, and how silly some of these feuds are, would be helpful.

My prayers are with you. Hope you can be the difference in your family situation this holiday season.

Well.. Me and my mother ended up going over to Grandma's house after we had the family dinner at our house. We left brother at home. Everything was very polite. It could've been worse I guess!

I wish a real spirit of God's generousity and genuine love be in you all this Christmas. :):D:)

Lottsa love,
