What makes one a Christian?
If a person believes by faith that Jesus died on the cross to pay the price for their sins, and rose from the dead - trusting in Him alone for their salvation - then they are saved.
There are many Christians who hold wacky views - yet, they're still Christians. But if you take away the basics, all bets are off.

I would disagree that we are all unrepentant murderers at heart. How can unrepentant murderers be in heaven? No murderer has eternal life abiding in them.
James and John said faith without works is dead for a reason.

If someone commits murder they are a murderer.
jesus paid for all sin, not just some sins..
Paul said these people will not enter the kingdom of God. He then said the people of Corinth were these people (they commited those sins)
He did not say, but you repented, or But you stopped those sins and changed you life, (in fact many of them were still committing those sins, the corinthian church struggled mightily with sexual sin) He said they were washed, sanctified and justified, by Jesus.
it is all because of what Jesus did, not us.
I think this dangerous mindset is the influence of Calvinism (I'm sure there are precedents), that a believer can practice sin, or justify sin, without dire repercussions.

well I have never heard calvin or a calvanist say this.
I think this is the mindset brought about by teachers who reject calvins teaching on eternal security..

Yes he was pretty nasty about it.I dont think he understood that God blinded the Jews until the Gentiles come in. As you know antisemitism really gets to me when it comes to Christians that should know better.

it came from his catholic upbringing.. Many of the reformers held to this attitude, it would be hard to think they changed all their thinking overnight. It took many of these new movements some time to change many of their views.. Thats why the Lutherans today do not follow his view on jews.

Well the attitude came from the replacement theology,which the Catholic church,among others repented of.But many of the early church fathers were antisemitic

yes they were, and did many other things which I am sure they will not be proud of in heaven.
I firmly believe the greatest shock and horror ( if one could call it that there.. ) when we go to heaven....will be...

Dr. King was an ordained Baptist preacher, but he preached what is known as Liberation Theology, the social gospel that teaches Jesus' true mission was to liberate the politically oppressed and the poor. Those who reject it (as I do) consider it Christianized Marxism. It was very popular in Latin America in the 1950s and Dr. King borrowed from them just like he took the concept of passive resistance from Gandhi.

Would it be the fault of calvanism, or some being drawn to parts of it to try and excuse things in their life they didnt want to change?
In NT times some used grace as a licence to sin( jude4) there was nothing wrong with the message obviously but the hearts of some who listened to it

The whole point God is making is that we are all guilty of breaking His laws - and we will continue to break His laws (i.e., "sin") until the day we die.
That's why we need a Savior who paid for it all - every single sin. That's why we are declared righteous and holy. Christ's sinless nature is imputed to us. There is no condemnation left for believers.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but by your reasoning, it seems, if a believer commits a sin just before death, his salvation is forfeit, and he goes to hell.
What I find funny about "confessing sins" is that we usually don't really confess the real sin.
Example:..I go to the store and steal food ( I supposedly confess that I stole food to God and He forgives me..)
The "sin" of stealing the food is just the "fruit" of my real sin....which is....I do not trust in my loving heavenly Father.
So, It is impossible to really confess our sins....if we had to rely on that procedure.....we'd be goners and hell-bound for sure!!
