I think they should BMI the state health department employees and FIRE every fat person!!! I mean... THE HYPOCRISSY!!! Oh an then there is the issue of the extremely judicious use of public funds...:(

BMI calculations arent actually accurate. You have to consider body frame and so on.

My son is considered "obese" according to BMI. According to actually medical professionals he is normal.
My sister was considered overweignt according to BMI. She died of anorexia.

makes me so angry.u cant put everyone in the same box... the bmi thingy dosent work, i got told i was fat as a child and u know what, im still a chunky monkey but i exsersize more than most people. but there willing to mess with ur heads calling everyone fattys but they dont want to help you. you get so many people go on crash diets now because they have been told there fat and their is nothing wrong with them.

"The sun's already reached its peak," he announced

"If it's reached its peak," said the captain reflectively, "it's one o'clock, not noon."

"What do you mean?" Shukhov demurred. "Every old-timer knows the sun stands highest at dinner-time."

"Old-timers, maybe," snapped the captain. "But since thier day a new decree has been passed, and now the sun stands highest at one."

"Who passed that decree?"

"Soviet power."

Better yet, we make them take an exam focused on.

1. Basic American History.

2. Basic Reading.

3. Basic Arithmetic.

4. Public Service Entrance Exams (used by every grocery store).

If they cannot pass with 30 minutes of prep time, they are fired.

BMI is very inaccurate with tall people too. Sister was 5'10. I am 5'11. I won't even begin to tell you how morbidly obese t says I am when I am not obese at all.

My BMI was about 20 when I was about ten pounds underweight and exercising.

Yeah, the fat and obese debate is unsettling. My daughter told me she has a friend that is delete pounds heavier than her and this friend considers herself fat. My daughter is quite slim.

It's just important that parents talk to their children about such matters, early and as often as needed. I'm happy my daughter and I feel comfortable talking about most things. And she seems to be taking a very balanced approach to her health.

Hopefully, she won't overhear me and my wife too often. One night, my wife and I were lying in bed. She had her hand on my stomach and I pushed it away out of embarrassment. I had always been in really good shape, but I found myself more than a little plump at the time. My wife put her hand back and said, "I like your fat." I replied, "Well, I don't like my fat. And for the record, I don't like yours either." :)

The bottom line is, it's important to emphasize the wisdom of taking care of one's body. But there needs to be a balanced approach. And it's up to parents, not the school or others, to make sure it's done properly and with love.

Since my daughter started homeschooling, everybody seems to be getting more actively involved in exercise. Before long, I'm going to have those six-pack abs I've been working on for the past six years. And my wife will be able to get her wedding ring back on her finger. Yee Haw!!! :)
