Please pray for the recently reposed Father George Sondergaard
Truly this day we can call upon our dear Father George for aid from on high!
Pray for us from heaven, dear God-father. I am quite certain you have loved me with the perfect love of God.
How else could I explain your happiness with seeing me, even though I was sunk deep into putrifaction and sin!
Lord have mercy, Lord have mercy, Lord have mercy!
Our Father, Who Art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy Name, Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one!
Into thy hands O Lord I commend the soul of Thy servant Father George, and beseech Thee to grant him rest in the place of Thy rest, where all Thy blessed saints repose, and where the light of Thy countanance shines forever, and also do i beseech Thee to grant that our present lives may be Godly, sober and blameless, that we too may enter into Thy Heavenly Kingdom with those we love but see no longer, for Thou art the ressurection and the life of Thy departed servants, o Christ our God, and to thee we ascribe Glory, to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages

I join you and others here in giving thanks for to God for His servants life and that he is now safely and victoriously home with our Lord. I pray for healing for you grief over his loss but know you will see him again one day and this is our hope, in Christ alone. I also ask our Lord to bless you for your faith and for your thankfulness for his life. I cannot agree about your friend being able to intercede for us now that he is gone home though....Father George is with Christ but it is Christ alone who can do this. God Bless you as we all give thanks for a life lived well for Jesus. <><
 
I believe there's no need to pray for the dead, their fate is out off our hands, we should just trust they enter into God's eternity. Nor should we ask for intercession from the deceased, there's just One who makes intercession for us in heaven namely Jesus.

My condolences though.
 
Sorry to put it so bluntly but I don't care if you think its appropriate to pray for the dead, this forum is made to honor my Godfathers memory. The Orthodox Church has always prayed for the dead from Pentecost until this very day. The Orthodox have always prayed to deceased Saints, they aren't even canonized until years after they are dead.
