If you can't refrain yourself from pointing out the family/church/ nation detriments and shortcomings of Husbands and Dads on Father's Day, you know, like in front of their wives and children? You got, what? 51 other Sundays in the year to let us have it? Here's a "novel" idea; why not break with tradition and use "Fathers" Day" to admonish everyone to honor their mothers AND fathers? You know, like the Bible says?

Here's a better idea: don't even acknowledge father's day at all.

If you know the history of father's day, the men of the 1920's thought the idea of a father's day was ridiculous... because it was, and remains to be, a ridiculous invention of women and politicians!

Everyone except the working-man wanted this holiday to frame them as weak, affirmation seeking, pitiful things. DISGUSTING! It sickens me to think about the men that allowed this to happen; that they would so passively accept such a place of dishonor as concubine to their government/corporate masters, who in a most satanic fashion used the woman to stumble the man.

And who were the first church clergy to approve of this? The same one that would become the LGBT affirming disgrace that is is today-the methodist church.

In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson had endorsed the idea, and in 1924, Calvin Coolidge recommended national observance of the day "to impress upon fathers the full measure of their obligation" and strengthen intimate ties between fathers and children.

CALVIN COOLIDGE! Who who met HIS OWN OBLIGATIONS SO WELL, he led the United States into the great depression. Bravo.

This pastor has it right.

I never thought about this before watching the video, but what he described is what I have personally seen in the churches I have attended. As a male, I know that it's not easy being a man in today's world, and it does seem that certain churches may be contributing to that problem. Working in sales and regularly interacting with families, I could offer my own insights or observations about family life here in America, but I would rather not die before my time.

I got tired of "girl boss" in movies a LONG time ago....just to hear more of it when comparing mothers day sermins to fathers day sermons at church.

But getting a pastor to shift and adjust away from the expected sermon? You would have better luck moving a mountain.

In the Book of Job, something is pointed out....
The Patriarchy....
It's a system where the Father of a family was responsible for the whole family...even if the Patriarch was your uncle. He was the ultimate judge....kinda. He also was EVERYONE'S access to God.

The "Law of Moses" established the patriarchy and legitimized it with protections on both sides....

When the "Firstborn" was given the double portion of the Father's estate when he died....everyone cheered as the new Patriarchal leader was established and now justice for everyone was established again...as well as access to God. And because of that access....God would "remember" and bless your whole family due to righteous behavior.

Yes, each family and person within was an individual with specific talents and abilities....and yes, family relationships and dynamics can be tough....but the Father was responsible for equity. He wouldn't necessarily do anything about petty squabbling.....but big stuff he was always in the middle of it. (Rachael&Leah)

Just saying........
I'm all about Dads getting that Sunday afternoon nap....he usually needs and deserves it.

Well, I'm tired of leaving church, again, with the impression that I'm supposed to know that the only individuals in our church and country who "measure up" are the pastors and our wives. So, I will skip church on Father's Day. I can "lead", and I know what the scriptures say relative to these matters; but our feminist world (which churches have succumbed to) is loathe to hear any of it; It would severely disrupt the status quo to preach any of those things in many churches.

I have much to be grateful for.
I have a perfect Father in Heaven Who gave me the gift of an awesome Dad who showed me God's love.
The Lord helped me lead him to Christ shortly before he was brutally murdered by an employee of the Louis Johnson VA Hospital in Clarksburg West Virginia the morning I planned to transfer him to a safer place.

I was honored to be my Dad's preacher and try to honor him by leading others to be with us some day.

Sorry to hear about your Dad. That is terrible.. My Dad was the first in our family to come to know Christ. I'll see him again one day too.
