Hey I just wanted to know what traditions and things you do for Christmas that you love that is both Jesus centered and family friendly?

I like baking Christmas cookies, caroling around the neighborhood, giving gifts to family and friends, nativity scenes, Christmas concerts and pageants, and lots and lots of others that I'm just learning through my in laws and their many family traditions.

what traditions do you do during this time of year to honor Jesus?

we are currently making a paper cone angel craft and for the wings we traced the kids hands and they are decorating them

and then we are going out to give out cookies we made yesterday and Christmas cards to our friends in the area before we leave next Wed for my in laws place :)

Jesus' birthday is not in scripture! If it's not in the scripture we should not do it! Making up our own stuff - as well intentioned as you might be will lead to the wrong road!

Unless the LORD builds the house, the builders labor in vain.

Spend time with my family and eat good food. And we all gather round the table and say what we're thankful for (on thanksgiving too, lol). :)

And we might donate toward a good cause.
 
We make about a bazillion cookies, between me, my mom, my sister, and my mother-in-law. We have huge family dinners, at least two- Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, with different parts of the family.

It's our first Christmas with our son, he's 10 months old and doesn't understand any of it yet, but I've been excited to start new traditions with him, and I think my favorite is going to be reading him the story of Jesus' birth each year (and more of the Bible throughout the year, but I want to be sure he learns the right reason for celebrating Christmas).

Also, the town we live in automatically enters anyone who puts up outdoor lights into a contest- which I didn't know until we were visited the other night by a lady wanting to give us $20 for winning 3rd place. So that'll be fun in the years to come, too :)
