REV. 15:4.
Who shall not fear Thee, O Lord, and glorify Thy name? for Thou only art holy:
for all nations shall come and worship before Thee; for Thy judgments are made manifest.

19:5.
And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye His servants,
and ye that fear Him, both small and great.

I respect electricity because it can kill me...I have seen others get killed or seriously hurt by having a fear of electricity.....

I also think you should try relating to God by looking at Jesus Christ.....by relating to God through Jesus Christ most of these answers would be given...

I am relating to God thru my faith in Jesus Christ. I believe that having a healthy fear of the Lord is when we look at Him in fear, respect, awe, reverance, wanting to please Him, in worship, prayer and in total giving of ourselves to Him. If we only fear the Lord in awe, reverance and respect i think we miss out on other aspects of who God is. It would be like studying the attributes of God but not looking at His Sovereignty. If we look at all the attributes of God except Sovereingty are we really inderstanding His complete rulership over everything? That is why i believe that when we fear the Lord we are to look at other aspects of fear mentioned in the Bible, both the OT and the NT, to have a complete "fear if the Lord".

Because of my relationship with Jesus as Lord and Savior i fear the Lord in respect awe and reverance. Because of what Jesus has done for me i fear the Lord in a way as to not want to disappoint Him. Because of Genesis 1:1 i fear the Lord due to His immense power. But because of Jesus Christ i can have a healthy fear of the Lord in all these ways because i am His child due to my faith in Him.

It is actually possible to have a fear of someone else due to respect, awe and reverance of them. Can you have a fear of someone due to not wanting to disappoint them? Yes, as there may be someone you dont want to disappoint (including yourself). But can you have a fear of someone due to their almighty power? No, because no one but God has almighty power. This why i readon that we are to fear the Lord in all these ways. And as i am studying this subject reading Gods Word, reading other writings and listening to sermons there is no exact nailed down definition of "fear of the Lord". Even sayan fears the Lord but not in the way you and i do as Christians. Satan knows whats coming, not because he is omniscient, but because he knows the Bible. So as Christians i believe that we are to have a healthy fear of the Lord in all its meaning so that we do not have to FEAR the Lord.

I am not saying i am right or that all yinz have to believe as i do but that this is what i believe it means to totally "fear the Lord". Thats why this is a discussion and not an all out angry argument. :)

So anyway do any of yinz have a thinking of or an understanding of what God says in Proverbs 1:7? How is the fear of the Lord the beginning of knowledge? I think that due to our fear of the Lord in awe, reverance, respect and worship of God He can teach us His ways and how we are to live our lives in a way that is pleasing and glorifying Him. Does this make sense?

The fear of The Lord is the beginning of knowledge and wisdom...to know Him and His ways is to fear Him as well as well as to love Him...think of it as a small child looking up to a strict but loving father, but how much more must this apply when looking at a holy and just God - I think this gives a visual.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom but the end and fullness of wisdom is that Christ has become our wisdom.

Those that truly are in reverence and awe of the Lord live by the finished work of Christ for us and His life in and through us manifests His wisdom and life to others.

1 Corinthians 1:30-31 (NASB)
