The Good Samaritan is found in Luke 10:30-37 and is one of my my favorite parables.

I love this parable because in it Jesus reminds us of the importance of keeping the second great commandment. The priest and the Levite did nothing to help the wounded man. The Samaritan had compassion on the injured man and took care of him. It was the Samaritan that showed mercy who was a neighbor to him that fell among the thieves.

(KJV 1 Corinthians 13:13) “And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.”

The Samaritan demonstrated love toward his neighbor. This is part of the fruit of the Spirit. The priest and the Levite had an opportunity to help the man, but did nothing.

The parable reminds me of the judgement when the Lord divides the sheep from the goats. The sheep inherit the kingdom of God and the goats depart into everlasting fire.

Jesus said the sheep were blessed of His Father and would inherit the kingdom of God.

(KJV Matthew 25:35) “For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me."

The Lord said the goats would depart into everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels.

(KJV Matthew 25:42-43) “For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.”
 
The Parable of the Good Samaritan is a favorite, and I also like The Parable of the Soils in Matt. 13:1-23.
In that parable a farmer sowed seed on four types of soil: a path, rocky ground, thorny ground, and fertile soil–with appropriate results.

Discerning the meaning of the parable involves understanding the metaphors that were used, most of which were explained by Jesus in v.18-23.

The seed is God's Word (GW) regarding the Kingdom of Heaven, the path represents a shallow and temporary consideration of GW that lacks commitment, the rocky ground refers to those whose hearts are callous and minds are closed to GW, and the thorny ground indicates someone whose wicked behavior belies their claim to believe.

The fertile soil is someone who repents of being bad soil, seeks God's salvation, finds Messiah/Christ and becomes a mature/loving Christian. Other significant words in the parable include: understands = believes, healed = saved, ears = normal adult souls, hear = be good seed.

The apparent meaning of the parable per v. 9 is this: “May all sinful souls hear and be saved.”
