I am going through battle after battle and this has been going for almost 2 years now. From divorce to losing a job, moving out my apartment to shelter and now back to relatives. Doing it all with 2 kids. I had enough money saved up to last atleast 4 months after I lost my job. The money is now gone and I have not been able to find a job, get back on my feet after my divorce. The father (my ex- husband) acts unconcerned so everything is on me. Family helps out when they are able to. I am glad I am able to go back to college this fall and I am suppose to graduate in May 2012. My college sent me a letter informing I have been placed on academic probation because my grades have dropped. I have always made good grades and I am sooo close to finishing. I am facing battles one after another. I have been praying and fasting and have seen little happening. I feel like I am on the verge of insanity and just about to give up on God. I feel confused and wondering if He really does exist. I have been praying for restoration of marriage also, and that my spouse would get saved. I am about ready to let it all go and just give up. I am just tired.

Praying for you!Lord turn it all arround. in Jesus name amen
Help this little one.

Some times it is the darkest before the dawn, don't give up! I will be praying for you. Keep asking for skillful and Godly wisdom.
Psalm 126:5
They who sow tears, Shall reap in joy and singing!

Praying for you in Jesus that you will know His rest and care, bringing all that is the streangth you need.
Jesus is close to the broken hearted.

Huge hugs and God bless.

I'm sorry. I can't sit here and read this clap-trap any longer. Forget praying. it is a waste of your time.

What you need to do when faced with mulitple problems is sit down and write out all the issues you have and consider what is the best and worst outcome of each.

You can then give yourself 30 minutes to worry your little heart out over all those problems and then ask yourself "did all that worrying make it any better?" Of course the answer will be "no". so there's your first lesson learned. Worrying does not help!

So move on to some direct action instead. Write out all the things you could do to make each problem better. It might be a big list but never mind, it just means there are more options that you thought possible.

Now consider which of these are actions for you and which are actions for others.

Now work through the list - demand action from others and at the same time work through actions for you. Do each one properly and thoroughly. when it is complete, tick it off.

Now, after a while, reconsider where you were against where you are now and remind yourselfe how much better it has become. It may still be bad, but you personally have made a difference. Be proud of your acheivement and take strength from this to have another go at the list and make it even better.

I don't know you circumstances in detail, but if you are struggling to study and have kids around, the first thing is not to be shy or embarrassed. ask someone to look after the kids so you can sleep for 10 hours then spend some time catching up on your study and reinvigorating your passion for it. The improvement in your marks will make you feel a million dollars.

Dont thank anyone else for this but yourself!

Also, get that scumbag ex-husband to do his fair share. Don't pray for him - make him have the kids for a while and insist he kits them out with new clothes while he's at it.

I am sick and tired of the cruel advice being doled out here based on prayers. There is no God, he does not listen! Do it yourself

Remember........ Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day...... Give an man religion and he will starve while praying for a fish!!!

You are right to lose your faith - it has got you nowhere.

No doubt my advice will be met with a barrage of abuse, but you tell me - who has helped you more on this thread??????

Oh, and another thing. If you tell me what you are studying, I may be able to help. I am a member of an organisation who can provide real-world help in accelerated learning - often for free.

Let me help you with your coursework if I can and lets see if we can't make your studies more valuable to you once more.

My help in this respect is likely to be much more efective that some muttered prayer

Peace....

Once more thing......

I see you are in Texas. If you are near Austin I might be able to get some folks there to give you real, tangible, hands-on support and assistance.

Please let me know

I know exactly how you feel. Just persevere, do not trust in your human thought, and maintain hope in God.

Become Eastern Orthodox, you will have better faith in God and self-esteem if you do this.

Your choice..... if you think abandoning human thought will solve your problems in study, kids, finance and health is better I can only say I tried........

This poster rejects your American Christian view as useless but say his own Eastern Orthodox faith is the answer to all your problems. Is he right?

You can't both be right........

But you might both be wrong!

I meant his human thoughts about God, not everyday things. We must give to Ceasar's what is Ceasar's and to God what is God's. What I meant by that was for him not to think about his problems in a human manner by trusting in his thoughts, our minds often deceive us into taking light for darkness and darkness for light. We often idolize our own minds and thoughts and think that our thoughts are what make us who we are. But we are not what our thoughts are telling us that we are, and we don't have to obey them.

I meant to say that becoming an Eastern Orthodox will give him much more self-worth and esteem, so much so that earthly life and ambitions will seem inadequate because they will be overshadowed by the light of the Church.

Sloppy3........I think you live up to your nick!!! Your views come across as sloppy!(to me at least) You are right and you are wrong, (imo) you say things that will help and you say things that can put people off!!!

I happen to beleive in Jesus, and prayer. I also beleive taking action instead of moping, would help all of us more. It certainly can seem daunting to say the least, when things pile up on us. Making a list of what's going on with a concrete step in doing something about each one listed beside it, is a good idea/suggestion. It's called "taking the bull by the horns" and does work! Also taking time to do something you personally enjoy doing is important to your outlook on troubles. Read a book, take a walk, do some kind of craft, (ie: paint, woodworking, needlework, etc...) take a bubble bath. Anything you personally enjoy, and can fit into your schedule. It helps the mind be busy on something positive instead of the "wrongs" in your life at the moment. Remembering "this too shall pass" means to put that smile on your face even when you may not feel it, facing each day as it comes and going forth physically trying to make situations better.

grace27.........I am praying you continue to pray, but that you will also take the advice Sloppy3 gave and get the help you need. God may have put his words here for you to see and act on. God bless you, I will keep you in prayer.

will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;

Hi, :) thanks for taking the time to talk to us about this. This is a common situation with believers these days. Some people will say they are tests of your faith. I would say this. Often times we are only willing to give ourselves to God if He is willing to give us this one thing. or let us keep that other thing. God wants us to give Him everything. As we saw when He required Abrahams son as a sacrifice. It wasn't until Abraham conceded and was about to slay his own child that God's angel intervened. What God wants to make in us is a new creature. A new building with Him as the foundation. Could the foundation go on your roof? by no means. So what must have to happen for this transformation to take place? well first things first before He can build a new house He has to destroy the house that sits there on, and that means every single brick. When your world comes crashing down, don't think "where is my God?" but praise Him for in Him all things are new, and when we strive to keep that last brick from tumbling you only extend the amount of time before that which can be rebuilt can be built! Trust the Lord not just with most things. BUT EVERYTHING!!

again, if it looks like everything is falling apart, praise God, For He is building something new and glorious where that which was flawed remained. Trust the Lord :)
surely I tell you, if that one brick remained this house should not be built, for how can one build a foundation where even one brick sits upon the broken foundation? but nay, to the depths of the earth let this building fall. Praise God.. Its a new vessel!

Thank you Deadtosin. Your words truly encouraged me. It's very encouraging. Thank you also Andrew12. Thank you!
