Hi I come in the chat every so often. I have been a christian for five years. I am not perfect and I don't know what is stopping me from being filled up with the Holy Spirit. I read the bible everyday and listen to sermons. So I want to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Thanx. I also have schizoaffective disorder and bad spiritual warfare which used to be obsessive compulsive disorder but which morphed into spiritual warfare as i advanced in my christianity. I also have anxiety and body dysmorphic disorder, and bipolar. I am sensitive to gluten and milk, and I'd appreciate (I hope that doesn't sound bad) prayers to be able to eat those foods again. Thanx.

Peace and blessings.

Stacey

Thank you for posting such a refreshingly honest message, Stacey. Jesus said that The Holy Spirit will be given to anyone who asks for it, and you are asking for it. He is faithful.

Lord Jesus, please fill my sister with The Holy Spirit in your name. Please touch her, and heal her. Thank you Jesus. And please bless her diet, and let her eat those foods again. In your holy name, amen.

Stacey,

Nothing is too big for God.
In His light...your problems are small.
I pray that His love and light out shines everything else in your life!
Love in Jesus, Shekaniah

Praying in Jesus's name for you stacey, for the Holy Spirit to fill you and all you ask.

Hugs and God bless

First of all searching for God and being into God already means you have the Holy Sprit in you, because he is guiding you.
Be at peace, we all have difficulties with health.

DELIVER ME, LORD JESUS CHRIST
Deliver me, Lord Jesus Christ,
from all my iniquities and from every evil,
make me ever hold fast to Thy commandments
and never allow me to be separated from Thee.
Amen.

PRAYER TOTHE SPIRIT OF GOD
Breath in me, Spirit of God,
that I may think what is holy;
drive me, Spirit of God,
that I may do what is holy;
draw me Spirit of God,
that I may love what is holy;
strengthen me, Spirit of God,
that I may preserve what is holy;
guard me, Spirit of God,
that I may never lose what is holy.

Be merciful, graciously hear us, O Lord.Deliver her From all evil, O Jesus, Deliver her,From all sickness of mind and body. Amen

Stacey, what is it that makes you think you aren't being filled with the Holy Spirit? My understanding of the Word is that at the moment of redemption the Spirit takes residence in us. *happy dance* :)

This is a little of what scripture says about the filling, which is different from the indwelling in ways.
Ephesians 5:18 tells us not to be drunk with wine (under its influence, or as one person put it, captivated, motivated and activated by wine), but to be filled with the Holy Spirit. That is to be under the influence is God's Spirit; to be captivated, motivated and activated by the HS. That command to be filled is present progressive tense, as in "keep being filled"; it's an ongoing thing.
The Word tells up what it's like to be filled with the Spirit. As to our character, Galatians 5:22-23 tells us of the friut of that filling. As to ministry, Romans 12:3-8 and 1 Corinthians 12:4-31 speaks of the ways we are empowered by the Holy Spirit to minister to one another and to the lost.

There are things which we all do that hinder this filling. In a word, this is sin (see Galatians 5:19-21). We are commanded to not quench the Spirit (1 Thes. 5:19), which is to smother the Spirit's activity within us. When we allow things like this to happen in our lives, we fail to experience the fullness of the power of the Spirit working in and through us. But there is a simple remedy! If we confess our sin, our God is faithful and just to forgive us and purify us of all unrighteousness! (1 John 1:9) Then the Holy Spirit is free to do His work in and through us. :)

I can't help but wonder if the schizoaffective disorder may be affecting your perception of the filling of the Holy Spirit? I think it can affect the way you feel, and the way you perceive things...is that right? I lift you to the Lord that you will know the truth on this. I'd be sad to think you are being filled with the Holy Spirit and just don't realize it. :(

I will surely pray for you, my dear sister, for all good concerning you. And I will happily ask the Lord to enable you to eat the foods you miss. :)
I pray the Lord will relieve your anxiety, and show you what you really look like. More than that, I pray He will teach you your appearance doesn't matter. It's your heart that counts! (1 Samuel 16:7)

With much love in Jesus,
ellie

Stacey,

I pray the Lord will fill up every part of your life with His mercies and grace. Continue to trust and focus on Him. God bless you.

My personal experience was I asked Jesus to baptize me in the Spirit, and I powerfully experienced what I believe to be the baptism of the Spirit a few months after becoming a Christian. As Ellie says though, it's an ongoing process to be being filled with the Spirit, and how much MORE will God give the Spirit to those who ask Him :) prayers for you
