Hey all,

Have only recently started to read the bible and study the word, am looking to start going to church but I'm just not sure where to start, I have found a few in my local area so do I just "show up" on Sunday or is there more to it, considering I'll be going alone I find it a little daunting being the Shy person I am, any advice or encouragement would be great
thanks

most churches are inviting and friendly and do not pressure you into anything. Pray the Lord will lead you to the right fellowship...may God Bless you

Yeah, praying that God will lead you to the right one (their teaching based on bible and has a good fruits too) ^^
and its ok if you're alone :D just go there and you'll meet with a lot of good brother and sister there.. try to join a cell group too, where in a small group you'll get better fellowship..
There will be a time when you get argue with them, but remember iron sharpen iron.. Keep going, praying and dont leave ;)

God bless you ^^

Search in your area on-line for Bible believing, Christ centered church. Better to travel a bit, or stay on your own for now, rather than join a church that will lead you astray, and new believers are vulnerable to false teaching. Yes, the Lord knows His own, but the enemy is always looking for someone to wreck their faith. Believe me, I know first hand the enemy trying to tear me down. It's happened in churches, and on this site especially. Ppl, including many 'so-called-christians' are not who they pretend to be, and they can reel you in slowly, only to tear you up. Many are well practiced and spend most of their time with computers, so they will know a whole lot more about you behind the scenes than it seems, and they know how to manipulate msgs, even copycat and duplicate, so dont believe everything you're told or read. It's just like the world, but hurts more because we tend to think we're safer here.
And many in churches are looking for a way to build themselves up by tearing others down. But there are some very good christians out there as well. The main thing is to get to know the Lord and His Word. Get radio for some teaching and worship, be patient, remember Jesus loves you, and NO ONE and NO THING can ever seperate you from Him. God bless you. Feel free to pm if you want. Here's a msg for inspiration, and you can do a search thru there for sound teaching. God bless you, new sister! AMEN!!!

The very best way to find a good church is to ask God. He will lead you to where He wants you planted so that you will be nourished and grow to bloom!

It is a good practice to research the local churches in your area first, and give their offices a call, and have some questions for them. Do they believe in the entire word of God? Do they preach it? Do they offer small groups or cell groups for further bible teaching and relationship building? How active and vibrant is the youth group? (A church that is highly interested in its youth is a church that is going to stick around, as they are training the next generation of leaders!) Importantly, you need to ask them if they welcome the presence and working of the Holy Spirit. Denying Him or ignoring Him is a red flag.

Then, pray, and wait. There is no need for shopping. The Lord will lead and guide you to where He wants you, and where you will be welcomed and befriended and feel like part of a family.

Thanks very much guys for your inspiration, I know your right, I'll be taken where I need to go to be inspired and where I will grow.. Am having such an awesome time right now studying the bible and I listen to ALOT of seminars online which inspire me also. Just think for me it's time to get involved in the church and start getting more "real" about my walk with God!
Thank you all again for your feedback and input.
God bless you.
