The Donald pardoned nearly every violent insurrectionist who participated in J6. It seems he's only against violence when it doesn't work in his favor. The idea that the "left" is responsible for all the inciteful rhetoric is laughable. All anyone has to do is have a brief look at the president's Truth Social page and you'll find hate-filled rant after hate-filled rant.

"The violent insurrectionists who participated in J6" surely that would include the man who left the pipe bomb at the Democrats office, and the man who shot dead an unarmed woman, as well as those people who set up equipment during Trump's speech, not even attending the speech but smashing the windows. Did Trump pardon those people? No, of course not, because they were never arrested or charged.

Either you are a useful id*** or a big, fat hypocrite.

Let's remember what really happened. These people, 1,600 that were pardoned, had been in prison for four years. What were their crimes?

In the majority of cases it was "misdemeanor trespass". Four years for that.

The claim that this was a "violent insurrection" is based on two police who were hurt trying to control a large crowd. The weapons were not guns, knives and bombs. No the "weapons" were flag poles, pepper spray, etc. Also, a large number of those who were pardoned were not convicted, they were simply charged. You can indict a ham sandwich, simply being charged is not proof of guilt. 1600 were pardoned, only 250 were actually in prison. Of those the major criminal conviction of a "violent felony" was the use of a violent weapon. In other words, if I determine that a violent crime has been committed using a flagpole, anyone who is holding a flagpole is also guilty as an accomplice, just like if a bank is robbed with a gun, anyone involved in the robbery is also guilty of being an accomplice. One person uses a flag pole as a "violent weapon" then everyone holding a flagpole is also guilty of "using a violent weapon". When you narrow it down it appears that David Dempsey and Daniel Rodriguez were the two men convicted of violent felonies against the police, and everyone else convicted was simply "an accomplice".

David Dempsey was the one who was clearly and without any question was a violent offender. So let's look at him:
Dempsey had a lengthy criminal record prior to the Capitol attack, including convictions for burglary, theft, and drug dealing. He was also known for prior acts of political violence in California: [1, 2]
  • 2019 Santa Monica Pier: He was sentenced to 200 days in jail for dousing anti-Trump protesters with bear spray.
  • Other Incidents: Prosecutors documented separate uncharged incidents where he allegedly attacked demonstrators with skateboards and a metal bat at various rallies in 2019 and 2020.
Washington DC police arrested the Proud boys the night before, these were the ones who provide security at the stop the steal rallies. They stripped the security from the rally the night before. So if they were targeting Proud Boys, why not also arrest David Dempsey? But, here is my question, he was given 200 days for dousing anti-Trump protestors with bear spray in a previous rally, so why were those who used bear spray in this rally given 4 years? Why are people making a stink about them being pardoned after 4 years rather than making a stink about California only giving 200 days? If they had given him 1 year he wouldn't have been free to come to the J6 rally.

Official Statements and Rationale
Trump defended the move in both a written proclamation and verbal comments to reporters: [1, 2, 3]

  • Excessive Sentences: In a White House press conference on January 21, 2025, he called the prison terms "ridiculous and excessive," stating that many of the individuals had already "suffered long and hard" while serving years in jail.
  • National Reconciliation: His official Presidential Proclamation stated the pardons were intended to end what he called four years of "unfairly targeted" prosecutions and to heal national divisions.
  • Comparison to Other Crimes: Trump frequently justified his decision by claiming that "murderers don’t even go to jail in this country" anymore, suggesting a double standard in how his supporters were treated compared to criminals in major cities.
  • Political Persecution: Administration officials, including Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, argued the pardons corrected "due process" violations by a "weaponized Department of Justice." [1, 2, 3]

Public Statements During the Signing
While signing the order in the Oval Office, Trump remarked, "These are the hostages—approximately 1,500—for a pardon." He expressed his hope that they would be released immediately, many within that same evening.

I asked how many people attended the rally and "officially" the estimate is 53,000. That is totally absurd. I was there, I have video evidence and estimates made of the crowd from aerial pictures place it between 500,000 and 1,000,000. I was also at the Charlie Kirk memorial and they know from tracking cell phones that 277,000 attended that. I would say the crowd at the J6 rally was bigger than the crowd at the memorial, but not 4x bigger, so I would lean towards the 500,000 number.

This event is able to be characterized as "violent" because of the actions of a few men, if five men were truly violent, then this rally with 500,000 was truly "mostly peaceful". Calling it a "violent insurrection" is stretching the reality as far from the truth as is physically possible.

I would say the rally was 99.95% peaceful. Also I would blame Washington DC police for the violence because once they arrested the security for the rally it was on them. There were no incidents at the rally itself which was at the Whitehouse. The incidents took place after the official rally and they took place a mile away at the Congressional building. So I would also blame Pelosi and Schumer who were responsible for the security of that building and had been advised to add security and refused the extra security offered by President Trump. Not only so but we know there were many undercover FBI agents in the crowd and there were people setting up for a violent assault during the rally at the Whitehouse. That means anyone in the congressional building should have seen this and had an extra hour to call in support.

If Donald and his wife want to really do something, they might start trying to actually do something about gun violence instead of playing the blame game.

Well they are trying to cut the violence. It's called deportation of the illegals. So, why does the left fight it that much?

The hypocrisy of the left is only equal to their desire to have power no matter what.

There are the protections offered in the M'Naghten rules.
Historically, there was an actual a medical procedure that was practiced which involved blowing smoke up people's ass, the "tobacco smoke enema." It was thought to revive someone thought to be nearly dead...
I mean, they literally inserted a tube into the rectum and blew tobacco smoke into it...
You're welcome for that mental illustration. :D

And now, there is no way I can go forward reading many of the posts in these threads. 🫤

How far does free speech go? I think Mrs. Trump has had enough of the crazy left. Shame on the Dems for inciting these people with mental issues to violence. They are getting people killed and they don't care. I hope Disney does fire Kimmel. I agree with the First Lady, enough is enough.

The Left has become so base in evil! It really does take a lot of ignorance to NOT see it.

Hypocrisy: When the leftists scream about gun violence unless it's one of their own committing gun violence against those they disagree with, then nary a peep will be heard because "righteous a**assination".
There is nothing righteous about any assassination!! The Left is full of violence, and hateful rhetoric; 3 attempts on the President thus far.

How any, so called, Christian can support pure EVIL is beyond me!!

Amen!! Go figure?!

Actually, that is their go to, because the Left has nothing better to rant about.

The hypocrisy of the left is only equal to their desire to have power no matter what.
The hypocrisy of the Left is only proportional to their ignorance of Right and wrong….

Yes, it is absolutely evil and there is no way to defend or justify this morally bankrupt behavior and attitude. None, zero, zip.

Evil is evil whether anyone calls themselves Christian or not.

Factoid:
Guns don’t kill, people kill.

The right to bear arms is lawful!! Cars and other objects can kill people too, are you going to take away those items from everyone as well, for the sake of the insane/ unstable person?
In your mind, everyone should have to be penalized.

NO, the one committing crimes should be penalized and not the rest of the law abiding citizens.

Just my personal view: Kimmel is free to do his monologue (barring anything illegal, and I'm not sure his "joke" falls into that category), Melania is free to respond however she pleases, ABC is free to keep or fire Kimmel, and the public is free to watch or change the channel. If enough people are disgusted, there will be lost viewership and revenue, which are the consequences of free speech. As vile as people like Kimmel are, I do not want any infringement on our first amendment. We've already seen where that goes in other countries.

Words do have consequences as we have repeatedly seen. Probably many if not most people do have a filter. It's a good sign though, that people are totally disgusted with what Kimmel said. That shows total immorality has not yet taken over.

Those who refuse to take any responsibility for their 'freedom' do not deserve to have such freedom imo. The harm these irresponsible people do with their 'freedom' hurts everyone at this point. I really do believe they see nothing wrong with what
they do because of the spiritual deception that has such freedom because it has been invited by the 'freedoms' that we all cannot live without. Evil has come knocking and too many have answered.

So it's a catch 22

I agree that we don't want to see the US Federal government to be arresting people for saying these things. However, I saw a video where a woman said "too bad they missed" and then was fired from her job because the company she works for does not condone violence and assassination. So then, why does she get fired and kimmel can talk about Melania as a "glowing, expectant widow"? Is it because he might not have been referring to assassination, he might have simply been referring to death due to old age? The reason ABC should set a standard is so that the Federal government doesn't have to. Freedom of speech simply means you don't get arrested for being a jerk, but that doesn't protect you from getting fired. Is this really the image ABC wants to portray? Because if they let this slide then that is equivalent to agreeing to what he said. Freedom of speech does not prevent a company from saying this is not who we are and we are not going to have our reputation brought down by some jerk.

If incitement to violence or imminent threats can be proven, then yes, people should be prosecuted and suffer severe consequences. I'm just not sure Kimmel's comments can be proven in court to have directly caused the shooting. There was no call to action.

Don't forget the left also thinks we don't deserve freedom of speech and view us as a threat, hence the biden admin's heinous attempt to shut us all up. What they did was despicable and I will never forget. I don't want to be censored, and therefore I don't want to censor someone else. That's the difference between us and them.

I for one hope he is fired for his indecent remarks. He is totally devoid of humor and class, and shows no respect for high ranking Government Officials and their families.

He is the bottom of the barrel for the Left rhetoric. Rock bottom!!
