FITCAL is a very simple way of remembering how to do basic maintenance for just about all kinds of wiring, cables etc.
The anagram means F-find, I-inspec, T-touch, C-clean, A-adjust, L-lubricate.
This approach to maintaining of most wiring, contact points, and cables is very useful.
Here is my most recent use of this approach. My TV is on an air antenna, not cable, and recently
six of my channels became unwatchable. Before going to the FITCAL approach I found the K OF THE GROUP AND did a manual install to no avail, still unwatchable.
Then I thought it could be inside the coaxial cable connectors so, I checked their status, and they were fine, then the connections themselves. Voila, it brought in allof the stations so I am up to my full 36. I lubricated all of the plugs, and it is running as new.
This may work on cable, I do not know, but it is quick, safe, and oh so easy.... Be sure the power is off before doing any electrical chores...........repairs that is.
