I hear many who want to 'exercise dominion' and 'command authority', but many don't want to take the other half of the deal.

The other half of the deal is being a servant.

You can't kick things under your feet, unless you first get on your knees, serve and wash other's feet and serve.

Luke 22

24Also a dispute arose among them as to which of them was considered to be greatest. 25Jesus said to them, "The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them; and those who exercise authority over them call themselves Benefactors. 26But you are not to be like that. Instead, the greatest among you should be like the youngest, and the one who rules like the one who serves. 27For who is greater, the one who is at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who is at the table? But I am among you as one who serves. 28You are those who have stood by me in my trials. 29And I confer on you a kingdom, just as my Father conferred one on me, 30so that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom and sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

Philippians 2

1If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. 3Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. 4Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. 5Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:
6Who, being in very nature[a] God,
did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,
7but made himself nothing,
taking the very nature[b] of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
8And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
and became obedient to death—
even death on a cross!
9Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
10that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.

Reminds me of a child's song we use to king as kids. " If you wanna be great in God's kingdom, Learn to be a servant to all " This is so true. God called us to serve others.

I dont think many people know what "servant" actually means. I would think it takes a very special loving, humble being to serve others. To me,( and this is my opinion ONLY), to be able to serve people, any person that God calls on your heart to be a help to, is the greatest gift to ever be bestowed upon you, if you can serve with a heart like Jesus, to see the inward person, to just be pure and to give from the heart. If I can ever aspire to be anything for God, a servant would suit me just fine, and Im sure Im not even worthy to be that. Thank fully, he sees the heart.

Yes. Take me Lord. Use me Lord. I want to serve you wherever you call me and with whomever you place before me.

Dear Lord, you know that in my heart I still harbour doubts and fears, but I trust you. I know that you will go before me and beside me. I know that your rod and your staff will comfort me. I know that what others give to cause me harm, you will turn to my good.

Help me to honour you daily with my word, thoughts and deeds. Help me to glorigy you, even as I humble myself. Give me strength Lord to resist Satan when he comes, and to stand and not fall.

Help me Lord Jesus to raise my children to know, love and serve you. Give me your words to speak when I am placed before the authorities. Be with my wife in her areas of need.

This is my prayer and my desire Lord.

In the name of your Son Jesus Christ,
Amen

It's a hard walk when you fight the yoke.

Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. (Mt 11:29-30)

I pray that prayer or variations of it quite often. The walk is hard when you try to blaze your own trail. When you go in His strength rather than your own though...
