So God planted an analogy in my heart last night that I feel needs to be spoken specifically to parents or parents to be but really anyone it helps is fantastic :)
So I really think God knew what he was doing when he made us, you know how when a baby gets old enough to start take their first steps and the parent is right there behind them guiding them holding them but also keeping their hands at a slight distance to let them try to walk on their own? Guiding them in the general direction to go and when they go the wrong way the parent gently guides them to the right way to go?

This is the very image of a parents role in life, the job of the parent is to guide their children in life always there for them in case the fall right behind them keeping their hands close but not to close as to not let their kids try to walk in life on their own two feet. But the kid will fall sometimes learning to be able to walk on their own feet and will sometimes walk in the wrong direction leading to something that could hurt them and the parent gently helps guide them to the right direction or when at times needed will swoop them up and place them on the right path to walk. Instead of keeping their kid in a crib they let them walk and wander and explore life but in a safe area of radius because everyone knows not let a kid wander to far away.

I may not have explained this best but it is just something I felt needed to be said:)

As a Mum of three grown up children and a Mum of an 11 and 12 year old I can tell you their little lives grow so fast. Before you know it they are off to Uni and then they never really come back after that. I feel you have a window of opportunity to teach them a good foundation of about 16 years. Obviously you are always there if they do turn to you for advice.
We have this other human being that grows in side of us or in our loved one and he or she carries our genes, We want to protect, nurture and love and we want the best for them, However these bundles of joy that keep you up all night, are not really ours at all. They belong to God and what a privilege it is to be given them to be their parent.
Like with everything in our lives , Jesus should be at the head of our parenting. Raising children in a Godly home, teaching them how to treat people, How to love. How to forgive. How to manage them selves and money. How to work hard, How to look after ones self and each other. How to be selfless, How to trust, How to be trust worthy, How to respect and submit and obey. How to have fun. How to rest. How to overcome. How to cope with failure and hurt. How to not take offence. How to cut out worldly things from our lives. How to worship God.
It is a mind field bringing up children. So much to work out and learn with no guide book from the hospital. However, right from the start when they are born , every day after that is getting them ready to look after themselves in this world. Then they have to take everything you have shown them and taught them and use it to help them find their own way.
In most schools they teach children by teaching them verbally, demonstrating it and then letting the children have a go. Then bring them back to talk about it after words. The ' How did that go?'plenary. Children need to learn and experience in the safety of love. Making mistakes and working it out.
It is hard when you are parent because we don't want anything to happen to our little ones. And they need to have guidelines of what they can and can not do to keep them safe but they also need to experience of some decision making and problem solving with some help. The ' Ok , that did not quite work out. What did you learn from this ? What could you do the next time?

You are eloquent that I could ever be but I know exactly what you are saying. All I did was try do the best job as a parent as I could. Didn't always succeed though but tried to learn by my mistakes. It was and is a few times now very difficult, we have different problems now of course with grandchildren, 4 and another 2 on the way, but lifes experiences all help!
