Let me explain. Lately I 've heard a lot of people say they believe absolutely in the completed canon of scripture but they also believe there's ongoing revelation of those scriptures. I'll just pull an example out randomly; let's say Galatians 2. Under this idea, the Spirit might give new revelations of that chapter for our time, which were previously not revealed.

For those who hold this view, can you give some examples of how this has played out today? What are some scriptures, about which the Spirit has given fresh revelations for our time, which were previously not known.

I’d say “ revelation “ means we start to uncover and understand what’s already written in the holy scriptures “

we don’t need more scripture but need revelation to understand and make sense of the scripture that we already have is my position

revelation is internal understanding of what’s written and isnt a new doctrine or anything it’s making sense of priorly stated truth that people didn’t grasp before the body ghost was given

“Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God, (which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,) concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭1:1

Paul. Now understood what the prophets wrote beforehand about Jesus he had revelation

“how that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit; that the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel:”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭3:3, 5-6‬ ‭

Paul had revelation to understand what the prophets said but left hidden

“And he said, It is a light thing that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭49:6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

so see Paul’s doctrine came from scripture like that scattered through the ot

“Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come: that Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead,( Isaiah 53)

and should shew light unto the people, and to the Gentiles.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭26:22-23‬ ‭KJV‬‬
Paul is explaining his revelation is to now understand the knowledge in those Old Testament verses it’s the understanding we need not more continuing verses

Can you give an example of anything in recent years that constitutes a new revelation of scripture that has significantly altered our understanding of them? Something that was previously hidden and has only now been revealed?

I have been asked what my denomination/religion is because what I understand to be written doesn't seem to be 'the norm' and may fall under this topic.

A big one for me, when God revealed this meaning on top of the spiritual one (before being born again we are spiritually dead, after are made alive) is

John 11:21 Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.

John 11:22 But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee.

John 11:23 Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again.

UNDER the knowledge of the OT as that was the only info anyone had at the time

John 11:24 Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.

BUT Jesus doesn't say 'yes, that is correct and always will be, He says HE IS THE RESURRECTION and THE LIFE,

AND BEING GIVEN in an actual physical flesh event, the OT DEAD, expecting to be raised in the last day, aka those who are presently sleeping/asleep/dead when they HEAR HIS VOICE will come to life/raise up/ have their graves opened, Jesus being the FIRST FRUITS OF THEM THAT SLEPT once He descends for the 3 days and preaches the blood of the Lamb slain for the forgiveness of sins

John 11:25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

THEN Jesus tells us of the change that will take place under the NEW COVENANT coming upon the whole world and that is

John 11:26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in Me shall never die. Believest thou this?

Those who come to faith, DIE AND RESURRECT, by being born again and made new creatures and the new creatures never die. (disclaimer for this discussion because some He never knew) so at the death of the flesh instead of descending with the 'carcass/tabernacle/earthen vessel' they rise up in glory and go to be with the Lord and return with Him on the 2nd Advent.

Some want to say that ascending is WITHOUT a body but we know that is a lie because it is written to every seed a body and this body that is sown become a seed that God gives a body to.

John 11:27 She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.

So, that might be one.

The book of Daniel was not to be 'opened' until the last days' meaning NEW and never before known information being lit up for our eyes and ears.

In the end times knowledge will come faster and faster meaning new info and faster than ever before

We are TOLD to BUILD upon the foundations, not remain stagnant. That is how you go from milk to meat, you listen to the Holy Spirit when praying and studying and let Him lead and guide you.

So those who try and say 'it was only 1st century or that was never before taught or any of the things said to discourage' aren't HEARING what is written themselves. BUT one thing, IT WILL ALWAYS BE WRITTEN. No Doctrine if not written in the words of God is His Truth.

SAME words as always, just deeper meanings that reveal more of His plan. Another direction, another side, another way.
