For all the “Letter of the Law” posters on here…

If I have forgiven 490 people, then can I unforgive the next one?

I understand you only read the surface. This is a parable concerning Israel. Yeshua was speaking of the 70 X 7 or 70 weeks of Daniel 9:24

you can forgive or not forgive or not at all forgive, along with forgive all. That is the free choice given to us all to choose.
You, Tell you, what is best for you between God and you. God is merciful in love to us all by Son, proven to me in being resurrected as the way, the truth and new life to be given to all that will not quit belief to God, get the gift from Father as the new life in God's Spirit and Truth: (John 4:24) God does not seek our flesh to behave (people do that), no one else's flesh can but Son's that did it for us in our place of deserving death, took that on himself, for us to become new in the risen Son, by belief to God that will not quit in mercy and truth to us the people. For us to decide willingly to believe God loves us or not!!!!!!!!!!!
In response, of being reconciled, forgiven, debt cleared up by God over it all, through Son. I see to forgive and love all the way God does by Son's going to that cross willingly for me to be cleansed.
That has gotten given to all. Leaves only one choice left "To believe God or not"!
Once believe God, one receives from God truth over the error(s) of in this world we are in still of unredeemed flesh and blood. That are either in glory over or and guilt, which neither of those are from God to be prideful or in guilt anymore. Read Hebrews 10, and Phil 3, We are not saved by the death of the Son Jesus, we are reconciled as forgiven, in his one time willing death. To be made a live in his risen Life, to stand in Thanksgiving and praise seeing all sin taken away by Son's sacrifice alone.
Your free choice to choose
Love you from God to you, me I see this amazingly, as asked God, why are you not punishing me, I see what I have done, might do, and can do.
Answer I got is: My kindness is meant for you to see my mercy and love for you too! Once I saw, then things changed in praise and thankfulness. Then religion snuck in and got me put under Law (Me trying to do what no other flesh can do, but what is done for us all by Son.) That got me going and saying hey y'all watch my smoke, and all that got me was guilt and pride in the way, for me to see the truth of God's unconditional love for me and all the world. That is why Paul wrote about this so much. About it is a gift, not a work, as people are caught up in to do to get or keep or else attitudes of people, I am right and you are wrong problems happening to this day all over the world

Galatians 3:19-26

King James Version

19 Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.
20 Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.
21 Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.
22 But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.
23 But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.
24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

Read, Matthew 18:24-35. Then ask that again, seeing what happened to that person there that got forgiven by God, and did not forgive, being forgiven.
Then ask your question again, seeing yes you can, yet is it worth it? to not forgive and love God's way over self and others you see trying to do it and can't also by trying to do it themselves.

Hello, something else to consider, aside from the idea that if you don't forgive, you won't be forgiven...

That something else to consider is Gen 4:24... consider a 77 fold forgiveness juxtaposed against a 77 fold vengeance :) just a fun thought!

Mat 18:21 Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?
Mat 18:22 Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.

I understand what you are saying but Peter asked how often shall he forgive his brother, and threw seven times in there which Jesus added the multiplication of 70 in there to emphasize that we should forgive any time they ask for forgiveness.

I do not think it means the 490 years of Israel which they are not forgiven until the 490 years has fulfilled where Jesus is speaking to Peter of 490 separate accounts in which he should forgive his brother.

But Israel could of not been forgiven on a 7 years to 7 years basis for they are not forgiven as a nation until the 70 weeks is fulfilled.

How could you totally misunderstand verse 21? It says "my brother" (one individual). Not 490 people.
Oh you’re right. I meant 490 times. I’m sure I’ll get some “Letter of the Law” crusader who’ll say, “Well technically, Yes. 490 was all Jesus required.” Lol.

He’s just answering peters question “ how often should o forgive someone who sins against me seven times ?

Jesus answers “not seven but seventy times seven “

hes saying forgive others when they sin against you be merciful to understand read the parable following it it’s the lesson he’s teaching Peter

“Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven. Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭18:21-23‬ ‭KJV‬‬

at he man is forgiven but then he refuses to forgive another guy his orginazation debt is reinstated because he would t forgive them he concludes the lesson like this

So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭18:35‬ ‭KJV‬‬

If we read hairs teachings they aren’t letters but wisdom and truth principles to live by not numbers to count he’s teaching them the principle of mercy forgivness not condemning others lest they be condemned he’s saying with the at response “ always forgive others not o my seven times as many as needed “

How about, after the cross in the risen Son as risen for us. we, at least I now forgive because we, you are forgiven. Love because we, I, you, can now see by Son we are loved, he went to a cross willingly and died once only for us to be reconciled, forgiven. There was no need for Jesus to get any forgiveness or love. The Cross was for our reconciliation (2 Cor 5:17-20)
As before the cross of Death, burial, and risen Son, we had to forgive, and love to be forgiven and loved by God. The Lord's Prayer, under Law, is forgive to get forgiven and love to be loved. That doesn't work does it y'all. One might do it, as others do not and will not do that.
Noting this truth the Four Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John are of the First Old Testament, the Law and the Prophets getting fulfilled by Jesus for us the people. (Matt 5:17) Fulfilled at the cross (John 19:30) resurrected, (Hebrews 9:14-15)

So I am seeing this truth, God cleansed it all, by Son Jesus for us all, for us to believe God that we are sealed in his love and mercy for us to agree or not with God, that God just loves us. Start from that truth between God and you in thank you and see you decide to change from harm to anyone. That surely has done that tom me in being willing tom listen now from with in me, where Father snd Son live now through me, by me being willing for God to do what needed to be done and what might still need to be done. I am not perfect, Yet!!!!! God is
Love from God to all, y'all

1 John 2:1-2

King James Version

2 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

1 John 2:12

King James Version

12 I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name's sake.

We are forgiven, so we can obey God and not from ourselves, from God's done work of cleansing us first. Those in belief will decide willingly to obey God over man and self. Thank you God for Son, as risen, as proof of this done work for us to stand needlessly, having everything needed now in the risen Son for us. True belief, to God and Son as won for us gets, got me to see new and not of the self anymore, die daily. Even though evil always continues to try to get in any way, it can. Yet Can't by anyone, seeing to stand in Faith it is done for us by Son Jesus on that cross, we are reconciled, he is now risen and the new life gift begins in us, those that continue in belief to see will see, growing up new daily, in maturity

God does canning. What?
You first sterilize the cans to can peaches as an example, then you put in the peaches and can them seal them in the can as preserved.
That is what God by Son Jesus has done for us his children in belief that have decided to trust God, no matter what happens to them.
God's domner work of Son as risen is the only escape one has at least for me this is truth, Thank you

The letter of the Law, eventually leads people to the end of themselves trying to do the Law, if one is serious doing the Law, thence, one will see the futility in trying to do it, not being able to do it perfectly. Will then, move over to uphold the Law in God's done work of Son for them to be made new in love and mercy to all, over the few to love, which this world only knows how to love only those that love them back.
If I only love a few, according to me, then I am no different than an unbeliever am I?

Duh, is a conjective verb that is extremely valuable in the communication connecting replacement words like "I told you so" down to a single syllable (y)

Pffft! You really need to track that stuff with Microsoft Excel: Sin Forgiveness Module 3.33: desktop and mobile versions. I use the desktop version when I forgive anyone who is currently in my home. The mobile version is when I'm on the go. That version has a nice automatic counter for when I'm in traffic or at the airport. With proper study and prayer, I can now set it to 5 automatic forgivenesses per minute (afpm), down from 27afpm just 10 short years ago.

The only drawback is it won't work on Saturdays, so I usually sequester myself in a soundproof bubble in my garage until the Sabbath is over.
