While going through my Facebook feed this morning, I ran across a photo that said, “Forgive others as quickly as you expect God to forgive you.” Made me think of Ephesians 4:32 which says, “And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.” (KJV) When God forgives us, he forgives us. He doesn’t hold things in our past against us. He doesn’t make us jump through hoops to receive forgiveness. We as human beings on the other hand tend to bring up the past and the hurts that follow. I’m thankful that God’s ways are not the same as ours.

Amen, God is a loving and forgiving father. No matter what we have done in the past, he welcomes us back with his open arms. God with a big smile on his face says my child was once lost but now is found.

Thanks for posting this. I was bringing up some things out of the past, that I ought not have and feeling hurt all over again. Sometimes it is called 'digging up bones'. Thanks for this reminder. I want God to forgive me and remember my sins no more so I should do the same for others.

It is a good reminder for all of us. Something to really think about. God bless you!!

Scriptures about forgiving Others

Matthew 6:13-15
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Mark 11:25,26

And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.

Matthew 5:7

Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

James 2:13
For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy

The Apostle Paul speaks to this as well... “Have I not warned you before? Revilers will not inherit the kingdom of God.” Then he adds: “Such were some of you. But you were washed. You were sanctified. You were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God” (1 Corinthians 6:9–11). What is a reviler? Somebody who hates and holds grudges and is unforgiving and bitter. People like that don’t go to heaven, not because kindness earns heaven, but because kindness is the fruit of the Spirit which is given to those who have been broken by the love of Jesus and have embraced the sweetness of being forgiven even though we have reviled God.

We should also remember we reap whatever we sow:

Galatians 6:7

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

It is mocking God to say what we sow is not what we reap

God with a big smile on his face says my child was once lost but now is found.

But, only if we confess and forsake our sin... (Proverbs 28:13, Hebrews 4:16, 1 John 1:9) The prodigal son did that.. We cannot continue in our sin giving lip service to the Lord claiming we love Him while still walking in sin.

Romans 6:11-15
Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
