Hey Everyone,

Forum Friends Live Chat Meetup is going on now, but in the Relaxation Room!!

For some reason, the mic wasn't working in the room Lynx started, so come on over and head to the Relaxation Room instead!

Here is the link to the chat rooms -- just login like you do for the forums, then look for the ForumMeetup room to enter on that day:

https://christianchat.com/app/

@CarriePie has brought cookies, I'm trying to avoid being tasered by @James47, and we're looking to be in for a rootin', tootin' time!

Hope to see you there!

Rootin and tootin sounds like someone ate too many beans. (Actually that might explain the contention we had for a bit. Wrong diet...) But we got it back on track and had a grand time.

You kids are too much for this old man though. I had to toddle off to bed before the conversation was over. I hope it was as good after I left as it was when I was there.

Lol, I think rootin' and tootin' was a pretty good description of what went down last night.

We had a few bumps and bruises, but it's all a learning experience (such as, when the mic doesn't work, just commandeer another room!)

I like that I learn a little more about how to handle various situations each time. And we are developing some regular chat superstars, both on the mic and in type. To me, this is the best part -- we're getting some regulars and that really helps us get to know people, and it's been cool to meet some of the chat-only people along the way.

There are people I look forward to seeing every time! And there were some people I was especially happy to see last night, some for the first time, though I won't name any names just in case they don't want to be mentioned.

All I can say is, check us out sometime if you'd like. :)

We try to have a "lighthearted, coffee shop" atmosphere, though sometimes it drags or gets bumped off track, but the chat grew livelier (and downright hilarious) as things went on, so you just never know. :)

(We even limited our time talking about feet, peanut butter, and jelly.)

See? Being good is easy.

I'm sad to say, I was unable to avoid James47's taser (and other various assorted threats of keeping me in line ,) but hopefully I shall return to chat unscathed in another 2 weeks!

I hope everyone had fun!

Is it possible to post the transcript for this live chat? I'm terribly shy and want to have someidea of what it's like before joining next time.

Hi @2ndTimeIsTheCharm!

I totally understand being shy, and I appreciate your interest. :) Unfortunately, I don't know of any way to post a transcription -- I think that's only available to administration (but I could be wrong.)

I'll be the first to admit, chat can be touch and go. You might come in at a time when things are dragging and it takes a bit to get in the groove, or when we're working out a bug (such as if we're trying to redirect a conversation that's turning into a BDF show down.) So in a way, it's a luck of the draw.

The very reason I make these follow-up posts after chat is to try to give people a feel for how they've go, but now I'm also trying to be sensitive to anyone who might not want it mentioned that they were there.

Fortunately, we have some regulars who are good on the mic and really keep things moving. Normally, conversations revolve around what's being said on the mic, but typers can get into all kinds of side-conversations too, so people are free to talk about what they want. We love joking with our moderator, James. He's a ton of fun and plethora of Biblical knowledge.

He also likes to say he's tasing me as soon as I come into the room! He also threatened to throw grenades, and there as even mention of a shotgun. He's mentioned things about his life in chat so that we understand where he's coming from, but I said I was going to start a petition that we find a mod who was something like a former baker -- so that I'd get hit with pies instead of tasers and grenades! :D

Some people do come in and don't say a word, so you're free to do that too until you get a feel for it (or decide it's not for you.)

I generally have to have a strong conversationalist on the mic to work off of. I don't hold the chat conversations well myself, which is why I always drag Lynx with me. He and a few others are very good at getting things moving and I just crack a lot of bad jokes to try to keep the momentum going. In chats, I'm the goofy side character who needs strong main characters to give me something to work with, but I can't hold the show by myself.

One thing I'm really proud of is that we got on the subject of tattoos, but people were kind and constructive. One chatter even shared about getting tats during a time of not knowing Jesus, but is getting them removed after coming to faith. It was a great discussion with a lot of encouragement, rather than dissolving into a chair-slinging argument.

I can't guarantee anything will be what you might be looking for, but please feel free to stop by and just listen/observe -- we'd love to have you! :)

Unfortunately you can't even click a link that somebody posted in chat. The only way to post transcripts would be to take screenshots rapidly and post those here. And that would be impractical.

But it doesn't cost a thing to come in and hang out without saying anything. I think about a third of the people who were there last night didn't say much at all. Maybe they kept chat up for background noise. But you can come in and say hi, or not say anything at all, and just watch it play out as long as you want.

I also wanted to add, for anyone stopping in, it make take a few visits to get used to things and find something you vibe with.

I'm finding that for myself as well. The first chat was "testing grounds," the second was when things started to get a little rowdy, lol, and last night was maybe a combination.

What's making the difference for me is getting to know the people better. For me, that makes the conversations a lot easier, but it's taking time and several meetings to achieve.

So for anyone visiting, you might find it's not for you and we totally understand.

But if getting to meet people over time is your thing, it might just be the place for you. :)
