In 1632, the English Poet Francis Quarles wrote:
Our God and soldier we alike adore.
Even at the brink of danger; not before;
After deliverance, both alike requited.
Our God's forgotten, and our soldiers slighted.
- Francis Quarles (English poet), 1632
In Viet Nam, in the mid '60's, and unknown soldier wrote:
God and soldier we adore
In times of war and no more
With the victory won
And all things righted
God is forgotton
And the Soldier slighted.
I am updating this epic statement/poem to be my signature:
America and it's Army
The world doth adore
In times of war
And no more
With the victory won
And all things righted
The Army is cursed
And America slighted.
(just saying...........)
