The signals have already been sent.
The UMC puts a guy back in who is an admitted LGBTQ advocate, who did an official same-sex wedding.
What else could be clearer about where today's UMC stands?
UMC attendees/churches need to start leaving now.
Don't stick around so the two sides can "talk it out".
Talking it out is a delay tactic to keep you in the fold until you cave to their demands.
The central issue at hand for the UMC is MONEY.
The UMC in the USA is a connection based denomination, which means each church in a State conference must pay certain connection based apportionments to the State Conference.
The UMC churches in certain rural area's of the USA are traditionalist and will not budge on this issue, as they should not budge on the issue. the large more liberal states will force the vote.
This will cause the denomination into Bankruptcy, so the council of the UMC will either bow down or go bankrupt. Where I live at there is a UMC church in even the smallest of towns. Some towns have 2-4 UMC churches and their views are divided right down the middle.
The whole denomination hinges on the future decision of the Homosexual issue. Because of their connection oriented bylaws, splitting the denomination into 2 is not feasible and will result in fiscal disaster, including bankruptcy.
