today at church, the sermon was about facing life without fear... taking risks... and overcoming worries... but for some reason, it switched to people wanting to give up and end their own lives... the preacher asked those people to come forward... and i was surprised at the number of people who accepted the invitation in tears...
this reminded me of the harsh reality of this generation... the generation of anxiety and depression... of people desperately trying to catch up with the Instagram perfect life...
the sad thing is that if you are a Christian then you suffer more... because you keep telling yourself that you’re not supposed to be one of them... the devil tells you that you are the only one going through it... and because of that, you are a shame to the Christian world... and the more you get depressed because you don’t feel like you belong anywhere... even at church...
but then that is the whole point of the devil’s whispers at night... and even at times he tells you that in a crowded room... when you feel sad in spite of everything you have... in spite of who you are... in spite of what you are now... those are the devil’s lies... to whisper those words to you so he can tempt you to get out of the fence where you will be alone and the shepherd cannot find you...
i believe that the devil cannot touch God’s children... didn’t he asked for God’s permission when Job got sick... i think the devil cannot hinder God’s blessings... because once God chooses to rain blessings on His child then not even the devil’s greatest trick can stop that...
i once watched a video of a former Satanist who now became a Christian... and the one thing that struck me the most in that testimony was when he said that the Christians don’t know how powerful they are... as a Satanist, he said that their souls roam at night to kill and destroy people... but then they don’t have enough power to even get near a Christian... the former Satanist’s very words were “Christians have this power over them that we can’t get through”...
i believe that the devil cannot touch Christians... the devil will have to get through to God to get to a Christian... however, let’s not forget that we are in a Spiritual battlefield... and in this Spiritual warfare... the enemy will attack us where we are weak... having said that, i still believe that we are UNTOUCHEABLE! and that’s because we are a child of God... and the devil has to get through God to get to us... because we belong to God!
but... if there is one thing that God gave us to let us have full control... it’s FREE WILL... and that’s why God doesn’t force everyone to follow Him... it has to come from someone’s own FREE WILL to accept Jesus, as Lord and Saviour... and since God doesn’t control our FREE WILL... the devil knows that it’s our weakness... so that’s where the devil attacks us...
and that is why they say, the MIND is the devil’s playground... because it is the one thing God allows man to control on his own... and since God doesn’t control it... the devil knows he can take over it... our MINDS...
i believe that is why we are now in the generation of anxiety and depression... because we are in the end of days... and the devil is playing with our minds... the devil wants to stop people from realising their potential and stop the Kingdom of God from growing...
i believe that Christians should know that our minds are our weakness... and until we fill our minds with the thoughts and words of God then it will not have any space for the devil to play...
i’ve always loved the song “Good Grace” by Hillsong United when it was first introduced to church a few months back... but today, i realised that this song is for today’s generation... to remind this generation that no matter what their minds are telling them... God has never left and will never leave them alone...
“take courage... hold on... be strong... remember where your help comes from... don’t let your heart be troubled... hold your head up high... don’t fear no evil... fix your eyes on this one truth... God is madly in love with you...”
