Examine The Terrain: Circumstances Of Life
Habakkuk 3:19 Yahweh my Lord is my strength;
He makes my feet like those of a deer and enables me
To walk on mountain heights!
The terrain is treacherous. You are walking in a muddy, rocky mess-trying not to trip and fall on your face. When in the heat of a battle, you need to be aware of what is around you at all times. You cannot let your guard down even for a second. For the moment you do, the enemy is just waiting to attack, believe me.
(1 Peter 5:8) Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.
You need to keep your ears and eyes open to what’s happening; to the circumstances surrounding your life, and the events occurring in it. By paying attention to these things, you will be aware, and better equipped to know which piece of God’s Armor to use. You will know how to fight him!!
God’s Armor always wins.
(Ephesians 6:10-17)
“10Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”
When you become a follower of Christ, you are immediately considered a threat to satan; he is a real enemy not to be underestimated. Though he is powerful, he is NOT God, and God can defeat him. You need to ask God to help you.
(Ephesians 6:18) “Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers…”
You cannot do it on your own, and DON’T even try. Apart from God’s help, you can do NOTHING.
(John 15:5) "Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.”
You, as a child of God are spoiling his plans to destroy your life and the lives of others. Although he may try, there is nothing he can do to you that can ever take your salvation and security with God away from you. It is securely enveloped in the precious Blood of Christ.
(Hebrews 6:16-18) “16Now when people take an oath, they call on someone greater than themselves to hold them to it. And without any question that oath is binding. 17God also bound himself with an oath, so that those who received the promise could be perfectly sure that he would never change his mind. 18So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope…”
Satan will try to make you think he is stronger, and he has good strategies to try and distract you from your duty; to get you to fall back into sin so that you’ll feel like giving up. But it’s a lie because even if you do fall back into sin, God forgives us when we ask Him to. As you grow in your relationship with the Lord, you need to daily put on your armor (Ephesians 6), and keep walking with God’s power, not your own. Don’t depend on what you know-on your experiences, or the gifts you were born with. Though these things are a benefit, but we still cannot win the battle without God’s guidance. Ask God for the strength to continue walking with Him. Jesus said, “you have not because you ask not.” As I said previously, the life and walk of a believer is not an easy one. It is such that we always need to be on guard. As we learned previously, battle using the right armor, along with God’s supernatural protection, you will be kept safe and will grow stronger in the things of God. You will gain spiritual wisdom which is much more valuable, and unlike than anything which the world offers you. All the special talents , resources, wealth, and humanly influence can never offer you the lasting and complete protection that God’s Armor can when doing battle against the powers of darkness. They are real, and they are against those who follow God. You need to be aware of the spiritual battle taking place all around you. You need to prepare to battle enter into battle, but God’s way! SO, knowing the terrain of your battle will give you awareness of the strategies that satan is trying to use to defeat you. You will then go to God’s Word, (the Bible) for wisdom, and ask God to guide you in what to do or not do. Sometimes we have to lay low and just spend time waiting for the bullets and arrows to stop before we can continue.
(Psalm 46:10 “Be still and know that I am God.”) Have courage friends! You serve a God who is MIGHTY; Who wants you to succeed; Who is on your side. He wants a relationship and fellowship with you! Don’t deprive Him or yourself of that sweet communion you can have in the Lord.
