Friend performs rituals to put spirits inside dolls to create an idol (he told me that specifically). How do i deal with this? When i shared my concerns he said he was being careful.

Does you friend profess to be a Christian? How close are you with this person?

Being careful of what?

Well, he's baptised, but otherwise isn't really involved.
He's my best friend actually and i'm pretty much considered part of the family, probably the reason why he told me in the first place.

He doesn't specify that
So he is playing with fire but being careful thinking he will not get burned.

I would ask what precipitated his interest in playing with dolls and making them idols... do you know?

That makes it tougher. I can't tell you what to do, but I know if it were me I'd tell him it doesn't matter how "careful" he is God hates idolatry and spritism. It's the fact that he's involved in that stuff at all that's the problem. If he listens, great. If he doesn't, I'd try to find a way to distance myself from him. A Christian can't have any meaningful fellowship with someone involved in those practices.

Didn't ask him that question. I will have bring it up next time. I was more concerned asking advice first.

Well, it's up to me to talk him out of it then. I do not intend to cut off a good friend without exhausting the alternative.

If he has any kind of "familiar" he is not likely to seriously consider giving it up until he is well and truly burned.

Hello.

Your friend is basically channelling unclean spirits by inviting them to take possession of the doll.

He may be doing this passively or actively.

The first method uses willpower to channel the spirit, while the second is very dangerous because it uses symbols to invite unidentified spirits (demons) to actively possess the item.

Your friend must put an end to his practice as soon as possible.

He is at a high risk of getting hexed or to undergo demonic possession himself, if it is not already happening.

I'm not fooling around, God cannot help someone who refuses to be saved.

If he is willing to stop definitely or even get help he might still have a shot at getting out of there without serious hurt.

Deuteronomy chapter 18:9-12
When you come into the land that the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not learn to follow the abominable practices of those nations. There shall not be found among you anyone who burns his son or his daughter as an offering, anyone who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a sorcerer or a charmer or a medium or a necromancer or one who inquires of the dead, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord. And because of these abominations the Lord your God is driving them out before you.

By all means, try to talk him out of it; but if he doesn't listen or change, your own walk with Christ may be put in jeopardy by his influence. Just keep that in mind, and may God bless.

It is natural to want power, and what he is doing makes him feel like he is gaining power. It makes him feel like he is taking control.

It is also a lie that gives him no real power and takes control of his life away from him.

I mentioned all this because it is important to understand before you know how to deal with it. How you actually deal with it is up to you and your friend.

Also, howdy and welcome to the forum.

Huh ok

We as Christians have the Holy Spirit inside of us, we just ask Jesus to give us.

As a friend, just say there is no need to you to do this, as Jesus Holy Spirit is way more powerful and wiser than anything occult. Light shines out the darkness. So...we don't need to place ourselves under a bushel.

There is a passage in the Bible about this in the book of Acts, a girl was divining a spirit, (and making a lot of money by fortune telling) the apostles cast it out of her in Jesus Name.

Check out Acts 16:16-18

There was also the incident of the riot that broke out after Paul preached against the idol cult of goddess Diana in Acts 19. Looks like it was resolved in court.

I don't have an answer to your problem, but as you concerned about your friend, just show him a BETTER way and he may follow. Those that were willing, actually burned all their idols and occult paraphenalia to show they didn't need them anymore. And it might have costs a lot of money (idolatry isn't cheap!!) but they did that so others won't fall into that trap.

Check your own life first. Is there any idols in your life, or dolls or what not that you spend a heap of money on? They might be 'good luck charms' or whatever. You don't need them, if you have any get rid of them. Encourage your friend also. Maybe your friend isn't strong enough in his faith to say no but you can - be a good influence. If he still persists than it might be a deal breaker for your friendship...I have had several friends before being born again that were involved in occults and I just had to not hang round them anymore because they just kept going on about it and trying to lure me in.

I remember one girl, a professed Christian, actually wanted to do my horoscope and sort of was pushing it on me, plus I knew she wouldn't listen to me, so I just had to stay away, and ask God to reach her. She was consulting them because lots of women do that to try and find their soul-mate or want control over their love-lives. Thinking 'oh if our stars are aligned' then it was fate or destiny or something like that. Then they have all these love potions and charms and wot not. Well, I don't need that. Love of my life is God.

You know, I get that people are interested in astrology or astronomy and what not. But God created the stars, and He has his purposes for them. Plus..a lot of things like horoscopes mostly is just made up anyway. It just tells you either what you want to hear, or asks you to give money to avoid a tragic fate, and there will always be people trying to predict tragic fates...I guess it makes them feel better when they come 'true' and then they can say they prophesised correctly. It's so stupid.

As sensitive as this is for you, I'll be mindful before God to keep and guard you and to fill you with the reasoning he needs, the Spirit of God is able. The Apostles themselves went about "overthrowing, , every high thing" (2 Cor 10:5). So should every follower of Christ.
