It would be very convenient if we could see what friends are online and/ or in the chat room all at once rather than going to each friend's profile. Maybe this can be a new tab in the chat room or somewhere on the main page. It could even be color coded. For example, the names of friends who are offline would be red, online and in the forums, yellow, and online and in the chat room, green.
I know several of us just want to check and see who is online and it would be a fast, easy way of seeing that without going to each profile and going into every room, looking for them through lists. This would also add to the benefits of adding friends on Christian Chat, since several of our members don't understand the purpose of friending.
Feel free to add onto this idea, CC :)

this is a very good nice highly excllent idea.i really like it thanx 4 sharing this with us.amen.

THAT IS A GREAT IDEA THEN WE WOULDNT HAVE A HASSLE OF GOING TO PROFILES

or just look in the rooms 4 them.that works too.

Actually, if you read the original post, part of the reason for her idea is to NOT have to look through all the rooms. You're going backwards in this conversation.

This will give you part of what you seek:

'Quick Links' -> 'Open Contacts Popup'

However - I like the idea of taking it to the next level -- being able to see also "at a glance" who is in chat.

Personally, I would suggest:

Red - offline
Green - online
Blue - online and in chat

:)

(Yellow is just not good on the eyes... )

.

I dont know how possible this is, but it is a good idea, and if possible 'online and in chat' could also go one step further and let us know which room that friend is in, so we could go directly to that room?

Robo?

I thought the same thing about the yellow. Blue would be a good color too :)

I believe I know how something very similar (just the chat room part) can be done. :D

And it is - "in theory", at least - very simple.

(The idea is simple; the amount of work involved to implement it may not necessarily be that simple - it depends on how well all of the existing code is written...)

Maybe I will talk to RoboOp about it sometime... ;)

The idea that I had in mind when I wrote the above post involves creating a third tab ('location' perhaps?) after the 'channel' and 'private' tabs in the user panel at the right -- displaying a simple two-column table containing user names and room names -- updated continually, of course - like the other tabs - every time someone entered or exited a room.

One click on the 'location' tab - and, you know what room everyone is in... :D
